I have greatest hits and i did have by the way and californication on my pc but i didn't listen to them all the way through.

Plz could you tell me what are the essential albums(start to finish consistency).

I have been a fan of them since their second album. Pick up their first two or three records. Back when they were sort of hardcore-punk-funk if you will. The album George Clinton helped them with is great. Then, for me, Uplift Mofo Party Plan was their best. I lost interest when top 40 radio started playing them to death. Not to say they suck now, but nothing will compare to what they used to be.

Mother's Milk and Blood-Sugar-Sex-Magik.

Uplift Mofo Party Plan ain't bad either. One Hot Minute is okay, but doesn't quite feel like the Chilli Peppers. I like it better than By The Way though.

Uplift Mofo & Blood Sugar are the two to grab. Probably the two most defining lps of the band. Until the next one that is!

Californication is a definite must-have for a Chili Peppers fan, and easily my personal favorite. Not quite as popular, but I also liked One Hot Minute from the "Dave Navarro Era".

Californication is an excellent album. Im not sure why anyone wouldnt think that it is one of their best.
