Stevie Wonder song on American Idol

Anyone know what song that white kid sang on American Idol tonight? Paula said it was a Stevie song, it sounded like him, in Frank Sinatra kinda style. Mood for Love or something?

I loved it. Not sure what it was. It started off with "Here I go, Here I go...."

Anybody know?

Moody's Mood For Love. Thought it was a Quincy Jones song?

"Moody's Mood" is an old jazz classic by James Moody.A remake appeared on George Benson's 1980 album "Give Me The Night"(produced by Quincy Jones),performed as a duet with Patti Austin.Quincy later recorded his own version in 1995,featuring Brian Mcknight. It appears on his 'Q's Jook Joint' CD.

shows how much Paula Abdul knows about music, lol. It is not a Stevie Wonder song. It's an old jazz standard by James Moody (hence the title "Moody's Mood For Love").DMSR,don't you have George Benson's "Give Me The Night" album? There is a lovely remake on there.

99.9% of the time she just badly regurgitates whatever The Dawg says.
When she tries to give original commentary, you're pretty much hearing an empty head at work.

The Dawg often stuns me with some of his off the mark performance takes.
Last night's Kevin Covais butchering of Grapevine is a prime example.

Thank goodness for Simon.

yeah when she said stevie wonder, i was like "dumb bitch"..she could have at least said george benson. fortunately for her, 99.5% of the viewing audience will think she has far more musical knowledge than any other cheerleader/choreographer/c-list singer has smile
you look better on your facebook page than you do in person hmph!

Ditto.

And taking into account his background, it makes some of his commentary all the more confusing. confused

I'm sure they are partly there to sway votes. Also, they aren't hearing the same "sound board" performance as the TV viewers. I think the judges admitted that when they re-watch some of the episodes, they reconsider their evaluations.

Randy really sometimes likes a crappy performance, doesn't he?

I was so glad when he & Paula switched seats. I hope they make that permanant.

Paula is just plain weird/on strong prescription medication. I hate that she won't let Simon speak without literally hitting him. She has not much business being there at all, unless it's to appear in one of the first episodes, if you know what I mean.

I was at Larabee Studios back in 93 and I walked in on a Randy Jackson session he was producing. not sure who he was with, but man he was pissed when I just opened the dooor. That was my brush with the ex-Journey bass man..

I have that cd, there's some good stuff on there. I thought I owned all of Stevie's songs, so I'm glad it wasn't really him. ha
