The Oscar goes to:

ORIGINAL SCORE:

Gustavo Santaolalla, "Brokeback Mountain"
Alberto Iglesias, "The Constant Gardener"
John Williams, "Memoirs of a Geisha"
John Williams, "Munich"
Dario Marianelli, "Pride & Prejudice"

ORIGINAL SONG:

In the Deep "Crash"
It's Hard Out Here for a Pimp "Hustle & Flow"
Travelin' Thru Transamerica"

Way behind on movies this year(only seen one) but I did hear picks for original Song.
In the Deep will probably get it.

Heard a few tracks from Constant Gardner. Kothbiro is nice. So is Tessa's Death(The one nominated). I have the sneaky feeling that after having seen the song titles, there will be no surprises left when I finally see the film. Wonder who's idea that was?

Anyone hear the other songs yet/have predictions?
Anyone know which song Beyonce is singing? or which she isn't singing?

I really hope the original artists perform this year. I probably won't watch but I hope they perform anyway.

It was peacefully heading toward the light. Let it go. It needs to be where it belongs...with the general interest in the Oscars this year.

I was hoping that you guys had already checked out the music. Wanted to hear thoughts on. Didn't see the movies so I thought i'd attempt to, at least, hear all the music before Sunday.

I think I'm trying to be interested in it and I'm really not.
It is somewhat interesting, though, that all the performers for Original Song are also actors.(Wonder if that will start a trend.) Might check in to see how that goes over...Especially the Hustle and Flow song (since it was performed in character).

I'm surprised the Dolly song got thru...she says the "J" word. ("They nailed 'J' to the tree"). We know what trouble that got Mel into.

But you never know with the Oscars because it is such a popularity thing. The Bird York song is the safe bet but I do think everyone wants Dolly to have it. I do too.

It's true the Hustle and Flow song probably"...embodied the mood of the film..."best but those Academy people aren't smart. They look at campaigns and things. Isn't that how Cher won for Moonstruck?

true true...that also explains why Carly Simon's horrible Let The River Run beat out what may well be the best use of a song in a film, "Bagdade Cafe"..

but what adds to my hustle and flow theory is eminem's win a few years back...
