i think the best testament to the power of art is when a person with an ugly life creates a work of undeniable beauty. i think often, people are able to express their "higher" selves through their art. i think that's perfectly valid and completely worthy of respect.

Any of the artists that retired after the 1980s and never sold out to the 1990s or present sound.

Paul is ok, but he is so 'lax on stage. And that mccartney/lennon thing was really fucking stupid. Paul is just too soft for me

Carlos Santana---this guy has been around since Woodstock, and he hasn't lost his mind or self-destructed like so many of his peers. In addition to being one of the greatest guitarists of all-time,he has a big heart and alot of dignity. If there was any musician who should be President,it should be this guy.

Bono---I'm not a huge fan of U2,but I really respect Bono for speaking up about things that he believes in.This guy is on a mission! He's not content with being a rich, popular rock star.He has a bigger agenda and I respect people who dream big.

Stevie Wonder---I respect him for giving us some of the most incredible, mindblowing music EVER.His 'Songs In The Key Of Life' album helps me get through life.He makes music that you can actually feel, and he's all about positivity and love.In this era of foul-mouth rappers and "gangsta" posturing,it's refreshing to have someone like Stevie Wonder around.

Madonna---She's the ultimate pop superstar/icon with amazing longevity. She's what Michael Jackson could have been,if he had not self-destructed the way he has.I respect her for not only giving us great pop music for 26 years, but also for having a purpose,an agenda,a point she wanted to make. She's an extreme artist...the type of person that people either love or hate, and I think that's exactly how she wants it.

Prince---I respect Prince for going in so many amazing directions, musically. There isn't a style of music that he can't play.He ruled the 80s and is still continuing to do great things.

up until recently i would have agreed with you, but over the past week i've been checking out old paul albums like "ram" and "band on the run", and it's some pretty rockin' stuff.
