Man, I hate to be the one sittin' on the fence...Why yall makin' me choose??? --Damn!!! lol

OK...if it was down to musicians, I'd go with P-Funk ...they had so many greats ...Eddie Hazel, Bernie Worrell, Bootsy, Maceo and Fred..etc....not to be fucked wit!!!

On the other hand...when it comes down to songwriting and structure...I dunno, I guess Marcus Miller said it best..."Earth Wind and Fire...Man, they were like, Our Beatles...."

(actually, I think the Beatles are everybodys Beatles, but I get his point...)

.....so anyway, yeah, in that sense, I'd have to go with EWF.....

(It's funny, they both did a version of the spiritual, "Open Our Eyes"--- Funkadelic originally did it as a B-side to one of their singles, while Earth Wind and Fire did the more stylish arrangement on their third Columbia album with the same name ...)

I dunno, it depends... I guess I'm still in the middle boxed....

The thing that's so cool about these posts are that everyone's so cyrstal clear on their pick. No beating around the bush with this shit. No indecision.

As far as R&B/funk bands go,nobody compares to Earth Wind and Fire (in my opinion). As someone else pointed out, they are pretty much "the black Beatles" lol

It's funny, that's exactly what I thought of when Marcus Miller made his comment about EWF...I figured P-Funk would be the RS bad boys, to EWF's Beatles lol ....

Great point about "Open Our Eyes". I forgot all about that, Pali.

Thumparello

They both great bands.

P-Funk had Bootsy, Bernie Worrell, Junie, Frankie Kash, Catfish Collins, Fred Wesley, Maceo Parker, Greg Boyer, Dennis Chambers, Skeet...

Don't see Prince borrowing any ex EWF musicians. I 'll have more music to listen to since P-Funk put out more lps. Now HA! lol

hehe...I like messin' wit cha.
