I 'll say EWF is more consistent as far as tv spots, when it counts to do right etc. P-Funk can be sporatic at times. But when it's on it's scarey. Last night the show in NY was scary the type of vibe EWF can't fuck with.
Now stranded on an island P-Funk has more lps to offer and variety. Plus I can still get some Prince in my funk...Paradigm.

Sorry...got timed out.
EWF....because I cant get past the Spirituality and positivity of their music and message. Devotion, TTWOTW, Keep Your Head to the Sky, On Your Face, See the Light, Spirit...on and on...they always had a message, besides the melody, the horns and the layered vocals. They tackled so many genres of music, Jazz, African, Funk, Soul, Gospel, Pop...it is amazing that it all sounded so good. However, Maurice really respects PFunk. He once said that after PFunk came on once EWF had finished performing and "took the house", he made the band go home and practise until they got it right....They are both important bands, period, to the history of music...however, I just love me some Maurice and that Kalimba..... Interesting that the same responses I have heard all my life is the same on here. Same reasoning, same as far as damn near being split down the middle. P-funk by far. If it was a choice between EWF and either Parliament or Funkadelic separately, then I'd pick EWF, but as a whole, there's much more variety in P-funk. I mean c'mon, EWF could never produce two albums as drastically different yet equally fantastic as Maggot Brain and Mothership Connection. Compared to P or funk separately, EWF were more versatile; more rockin' than P and more smooth, and jazzy than F, but the Parliafunkadelicment Thang as a whole beats em out. There's only a few things that EWF could do that P-funk couldn't do better, quasi-fusion jazz-funk (of the uptempo kind; Parliament's jazziness was usually mellow), afro-latin/world inflected funk, and smooth soul, and the latter I thought bordered on schamltzy (or crossed that border) a lot of the time. Then again, there are moments that I feel like EWF's given me everything I like out of good funk at once: blaring horns, thick guitars, popping bass, highly syncopated drums, more than any other act. But my choice is still P-funk.

Probably true while sampling is in vogue. Which group's songs do you think will get covered by more artists over time. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

No fair making me choose but I'm going to anyway. I don't have enough EWF in my collection , so they would be the group I'd live with along with a Wilson soccerball and the secret FedEx package. Sorry Pfunk . Jeux Sans Frontiers

This must be 1 huge-ass island cuz these are NOT small bands.
Anyways I'm gonna go with PFUNK cuz there have been more femmme singers in the band and I don't wanna get stuck on an island with a bunch of dudes. test

Good post. In my teens when I was really starting to get busy with the guitar, I always said if E,W &F had a Hendrix lovin' lead guitarist in the band, then they would be on a whole 'nother level. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."

Interesting...it's damn near split down the middle. I wonder if it speaks on all of our personalities. I feel me picking Parliament/Funkadelic definately showcases my personality meaning that I'm the free-spirit, wild, etc. I don't know if our picks reflect us somewhat, cuz I love E,W & F deeply as well. I think who you listen to and relate to certainly says something about you. I've always maintained that you can tell a lot about a person by what they listen to. Music is very subjective, I mean why do think people get so bent outta shape when you dis something they like? Ya know. As I stated earlier on the topic it's Parliament/Funkadelic for me...not an issue. It's where my heart is at and always will be. I do like EWF though and respect them immensely. Fantasy is reality in the world today. But I'll keep hangin in there, that is the only way.
