Regarding Ted Nugent:

Chances are, you'll outgrow his 1-dimensional stuff. Thankfully, I did. That musical growth-spurt occurred in 1978 at the age of 16, back when I even considered MJ to be cool.

My excuse:

Prince was just getting started.

I don't know if I'll ever outgrow his music. I only listen to his older stuff - it brings back a lot of crazy memories from the past.

Sorry, I liked Ted before I ever met him and now am biased because I do know him. It's too bad that you do not like him for some reason, although the reason seems that you cannot get past the "redneck" stereotype. Have problems with some bullies in your town? Might it be because you listen to a black guy who likes to sing in falsetto and dress in women's clothes? I know some people still can't get over that. Not just "rednecks," but "spics" and "waps" and "hooknoses" and "spades" and etc. etc. etc.

Either way, acting like you need to kick some ass when you hear Nugent's name looks more like insecurity than the puffing up of your feathers that you intend it to be.

Redneck:
Ask folk in Alabama if a guy from Michigan is a redneck. That's like calling somebody a hillbilly. Besides, I've seen Canadian/Mexican/French/Aussie/etc. farmers with red necks in the summer. Redneck, when used the way it's used in this topic, goes beyond a name for the medical condition that we call a SUNBURN. Oddly enough, we sometimes refer to it "Farmer's Tan" here in Michigan.

What would you call a mountain man? How about a real life cowboy?

Still it's nice to know, when our bodies wear out, we can get another

and nah, i think I over reacted a bit. Like I said, I know him and even though he is very much the person he seems to be on tv and radio, he's still a great guy with more interests than guns and hunting.

In all fairness, some black folks toss around the R-word just as freely
as some white folks toss around the N-word. There's also the C-word
and a few P-words. We don't waste time with ethnic origins; Italians, Polish,
Slavs and Russians are all mixed in there. None of this stuff is cool, but it is reality.

I don't know about rd, but the fight/brawl I got into with a bunch of Nugent fans was
precipitated by constant needling, threats and racial insults. I was actually backed up by
a long-haired hippie, who coulda been a redneck (by his own admission) if he had cut his hair.

Well I dont know him personally but Im well versed in the life of TN...Im he is an alright guy on a one on one basis just as we all are...and my words may have been seen as over-reacting but it was just written as if I was speaking matter of factly with naryu any emotion behind it. As I said, Stranglehold is a jam.
