George Michael Arrested from perezhilton.com
Hoping to generate some Boy George-like interest, Gorge Michael was arrested over the weekend for possessing drugs after being found slumped at the wheel of a car in central London. In addition to pot, police found GHB in his car. How very Nick Nolte of him! The 42-year-old was discovered by a passer-by early on Sunday morning in Hyde Park Corner, who called the emergency services. Michael was checked by paramedics who arrived at a street near the busy roundabout with the police, but the singer, who has a history of depression, did not need hospital treatment. Police then searched the singer and allegedly discovered two forms of Class C drug - believed to be Cannabis and GHB, a type of liquid cannabis. He was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled drug. The former member of Wham!, who in recent years has retreated from the limelight following a hugely successful career as a solo artist, is understood to have been taken to West End Central police station, after the arrest at 1.50am, where he was signed in under his real name, Georgios Kyriacos Panayitou. Michael, who has admitted to using cannabis to combat depression in the past, was also arrested for being unfit to drive despite reports that the results of his breath test were negative. But he was de-arrested for that offence after being examined by a duty doctor. It is not known how long he was kept at the station, but the singer was released on bail yesterday. Michael, who has a home in Hampstead, north London, and was due to marry his partner, the Texan sportswear salesman Kenny Gloss, early this year, will have to report back to the police station next month. The singer's management were unable to comment on the arrest last night. After both George and Boy stand trial (and are most likely sentenced to no jail time), we think it'd be a great idea if they went out on a joint tour together. Don't you? Maybe even Pete Burns can join them [Edited 2/26/06 18:23pm] Yesterday is dead...tomorrow hasnt arrived yet....i have just ONE day...
...And i'm gonna be groovy in it!

Ok, I doubt the validity of this coming from Perez Hilton, but isn't this cat supposed to be happily married?
Why is he turning to ganja?

oh, the retirement thing is all making sense now. he had to give up making music again so he could get back to the important business of being famous for getting arrested every few years.

I can't decide whether this is sad or pathetic. I was pretty tired of GM's frequent and almost-proud exclamations of pot use (such as remarking once in an interview that he was so high during some of the "Older" sessions that he had to sing while laying on the floor)given his battles with depression but in a recent interview it sounded like he was finally kicking the habit because it had killed his creativity.
Guess not... [Edited 2/26/06 20:17pm]

I think that this is part of the reason so much of his output has been spotty and lethargic over the past 10 years. I'm the first mammal to wear pants.

WOW! I'm really saddened to hear this about George. Back in the day, "Careless Whisper" and "One More Try" were my chit. The man can sing! I hope that he gets it together .

George's weed intake has coincided with his low output. There are three sides to every story. My side, your side, and the truth. And no one is lying. Memories shared serve each one differently

When will people realise that weed MAKES you depressed, it doesn't cure it (in the long run).
It has recently been pretty much proven to cause psychosis in specific types of predisposed people, too... it's not as "soft" as some make it out to be and it certainly won't cure depression. . [Edited 2/27/06 3:26am]

But..."de-arrested"? I don't think I've ever heard that phrase before! "I would say that Prince's top thirty percent is great. Of that thirty percent, I'll bet the public has heard twenty percent of it." - Susan Rogers, "Hunting for Prince's Vault", BBC, 2015

Why is he turning to ganja? Nah, it's legit. I saw it on CNN as well. George has always been a drama queen, but he's become his own episode of COPS in recent years.

So he was partying one evening and was a little out of it. I'm sure there's plenty of people on the org who do the same. Doesn't necessarily mean he's crashing and burning. I really enjoyed his last few albums. While he may not be knocking out radio friendly hits, his music has matured quite a bit.
