Lovergirl is the only cut that I know of where she's credited on lead. On Emerald City, Side One is off the hook. That whole album DESTROYS P's ATWID, in my opinion. Stevie Ray Vaughn is playing some serious Hendrix type shit on "You So Heavy". Especially at the end. She had another cat named Bendrix playing that album. Bootsy is also dropping some vocals and bass on the title track. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."

I love Teena Marie too. She is one of my favorite singers. She is a beautiful woman with soul and she is a kickarse producer. She is so underrated and too bad some people only know her as singing Lovergirl.

Teena Marie Song of the day: "Stop The World" (1983)
(written by Teena Marie) Late last night I couldn't stop the tears from falling seems like I was crying all night long Me baby gone away and left me blue and there's not alot that me can do and there's not alot that me can do Foolish pride to think that I could just forget it knowing that the need would still be there Lonely, lonely room I hold my pillow close to me just an empty bed of memories just an empty bed of memories (chorus) Stop the world,I want to get off it's turning much too fast it's turning,it's turning baby, much too fast Stop the world, yeah, stop the world So political, the situation's really crazy like-a-you-know what I mean me baby come and gone vibration too far out of hand just an empty bed in my homeland just an empty bed in my homeland (chorus) Oh stop the world,I want to get off it's turning much too fast it's turning much too fast, much too fast Stop the world, yeah, stop the world stop, stop, breaking my heart stop, stop, breaking my heart stop, stop, breaking my heart stop, stop, breaking my heart stop, stop, breaking my heart stop, stop, breaking my heart Oh stop the world Stop the world, yeah stop Stop the world,I want to get off Stop the world,oh,ooh baby Stop the world, baby, stop the world Oh baby, you're breaking my heart baby Stop the world, baby stop the world Oh...oooooh

I named my new band project after her, so I am kind of tied with it at least for some period of my life.
Of course the name also implies that she has died, but that's a whole another matter.

I have almost everything she ever made! There's almost no female singer I can think of who has as much talent as Lady T. Can anyone name a female, particularly in today's market, who can hang with her? And Madonna had the nerve to talk about her back in the day, when she doesn't have a tenth of Tee's ability!

New Song "Ooh Wee" From Her Upcoming Album "Sapphire"
NEW YORK, Feb. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- The legendary 'blue-eyed' soulful songstress Teena Marie has the #1 most added song at Urban AC Radio this week. Her sizzling new single "Ooh Wee," is the first release from her forthcoming sophomore album Sapphire, on Cash Money Classics a division of Cash Money Records. The album is a follow-up to Teena's critically acclaimed 2004 album, La Dona, which heralded Ms. Marie's return to the music industry after a 13-year absence. Sapphire, produced by Ms. Marie, is the fifteenth album from the effusive vocalist, who is regarded as one of the most influential R&B female singers of all times. Known for her ability to effortlessly navigate soul/R&B/funk and hip-hop, Teena Marie has also forged many chart-topping collaborations with superstars such as the late Rick James, Common, Gerald Levert and MC Lyte, among others. A multi-instrumentalist herself, Teena Marie has maintained a production- hand in every one of her albums except her debut Wild And Peaceful (1979). The popular songstress and 3-time Grammy nominee has delivered an arsenal of genre defying albums along the way, including Lady T (1980), Starchild (1984), Naked To The World (1988), which featured the #1 classic "Ooh La La," and 1994's independently released Passion Play. Ms. Marie has released 10 compilation albums as well since her stunning national debut on Motown Records in 1979. Known for her tireless and universally acclaimed live performances, Ms. Marie is currently making plans to showcase selected songs on her upcoming album Sapphire, due in stores Spring 2006. Just been listening to RJ's Street Songs (Deluxe Edition)
That live version of 'I'm Just A Sucker For Love' on disc 2 is awesome, worth the price of the album alone. I think she's just a great, powerhouse vocalist.
