MJ was trying to be the "perfect" Pop Artist but I never really felt that MJ was truely pop. Even from a very early age you could hear the soul exuding from him. I mean people call a lot MJ earlier recordings "Bubblegum Soul" because he was a child and he did sing now and again about A,B,C and Rats. However if he was older and his voice was lower he could given most of the "Soul Greats" a run for their money, even as an 11 yr old.

The fact that in the pass he has spent so much time trying to make the perfect video and the perfect song meant such song will be devoid of Soul. Soul is a very raw emotion it something that should come out naturally in your voice and in the case of Michael that use to happen. Now when MJ sings I hear too many hiccups and yelps, which initially were used very sparsley. I hear someone who shouts and strains as oppose to actually singing.

Now I loved Thriller. Human Nature and Lady in My life are still two of my favourite songs. However I was a little surprise when I heard Beat it. I put it down to MJ experimenting with other genres, there nothing wrong with that. But by the time Bad came out I knew MJ had either decided to completely suppress the Soul in him or he had completely managed to do a way with it, if that was possible. His music as never been the same since..

Prince is making appearances at clubs & on TV.
Prince is getting a lot of good press.
Its a good time to be a Prince fan.

And what do MJ fans have?
Not much.
Their hero is in seclusion.
Only cd releases he has are re-issues.
His only appearances these days are shopping in some costume.
The press treats him like a joke.
Its not a great time to be a MJ fan.
Its a fandom based on memories of glories past.

I feel kinda sorry for MJ fans.
They are not getting to much love these days.
