seeing and hearing m.j. in the media complaining about fairness in the recording industry prompts me to recall the words of richard pryor, "oh my God it's an epidemic".

Don't get all proprietary about "your" threads. Some people are under the impression that if they start a thread, it's their private little world and people ought to behave like they want. Not so... It's a public forum -- the topic you provide is just a springboard for everybody else who wants to comment. As long as it's not sheer abuse, it's alright for anyone to take the discussion in a direction or another, whether it pleases the thread creator or not.

PLEASE BACK TO THE QUESTION...

Severe thunderstorms, perhaps even isolated tornadoes, may rake parts of central and eastern Montana this afternoona and evening (as well as extreme northern Wyoming and the far western reaches of the Dakotas) as a vigorous upper-air disturbance pivots in from the Pacific Northwest. Farther east, a few big storms may billow up near a front and old outflow boundaries later today over extreme southern Minnesota, northern Iowa, southern Wisconsin and maybe even portions of Michigan. The outflow boundaries will be from a complex of storms unloading heavy downpours on Wisconsin and northern Michigan. The storms inundated Brainerd, Minn., last night with over five and a half inches of rain. Cloudbursts also are likely today in southern Florida. Miami was drenched with over 2 inches of rain early this morning. In the Interior West, more high temperature records will tumble today as a powerful high pressure ridge aloft expands over the region.

It took MJ six years to release Invincible. There are a lot of good fast songs to release as singles. I was wondering where is the second video? "Unbrakeable" is good radio song and it was supposed to be a single and video last January.

If I were MJ, I would be mad at Sony too especially if I had a good resume with record sales. I don't understand why Sony would release a slow song like "Butterfiles" as a second single so soon after "You Rock My World" was released last Fall.

It's not all Sony's fault, MJ himself needs to do an "Invincible" concert tour and do more record signings to help promote his CD and generate the sales he wants. These days you can't release a CD no matter who you are and not tour. MJ loves to be onstage so maybe there are health issues he has now with touring. I don't want to see any cancelled concerts or have a tragedy.

I'm grateful that Prince has the NPG Music Club and concerts and Celebrations to interact to his fans. MJ should now look as Prince as a role model. Ironically, he named his first born son Prince.

Was Michael drugged? He was slurring his words and he seemed totatly out of it.
He really is a basket case and his lack of good judgement is even more proof (to me) that he is a child molester.
No, I'm not saying all people who lack good judgement are molesters, but it's just one more piece of the puzzle of Wacko Jacko's bizarre history.
And let's look at the contrasts. Michael Jackson, worth millions (or billions, depending on who you talk to) of dollars, dined with presidents and kings world wide, who can molest children and simply pay off the parents. Contrast that with the 16 year old who was punched in the face by a policeman while he was handcuffed. Now who's cries of racism are more valid and believable? Certainly not MJ's, with his bleached skin and plastic face. He hasn't wanted to be black for years, now all the sudden he's the black hope? I don't think so. Only those with the addle-brained mindset of vagina or subyduby are swallowing Michael's lies.
But I must give MJ credit for pointing out one truth. He said money is the root of all evil. Michael Jackson is living proof of that.

JLo, you gotta know that Sony released any single based on MJ's directions. He's too big to have anything like that directed by the label. His sense of what makes a single really sucks...kind of like someone else we all know.

well suby,
considering one of your ?uestions 2 another .orger's post about something as simple as dolls was: "r u black?", when the topic had nothing 2 do w/ race, culture, creed, age, or sex-i am not surprised u r confused about the image of your biggest idol...wannknowwhy?? cause your idol MICHAEL is confused! lol...that man hasn't been black for 20 years, and now all of a sudden he's gonna carry on like this? lol...i mean decked out from head 2 toe in black, and even carrying a black umbrella, while pumping a fist in the air?? he doesn't look like black panther, he looks like an old white woman in a wig...

don't get me wrong, i still have my michael jackson trading cards(from back when he was beige), the old right on and rock&soul magazines, the issue of LIFE w/ him on the cover, his doll, and a zillion other collectibles...but these recent events r reeeally making me un easy w/ him(not 2 mention extremely hard 2 look at, w/in the past few years)...first he names his son prince, and how he's a "slave"...

o.k., you want answers? i'll give you some...
first off, my credentials. in 1974, when i was 9 i bought my first, of many, jackson 5 albums... in 1975 i went to my first concert, a jackson 5 concert (then again in '76,'78,'81,'84,and '87)... i used to skip school to watch the jacksons on daytime talk shows in the 70's... i took much crap from my peers for diggin' on this kinda music, when they were all into kiss, kansas, ac/dc and the like... i always remained a true fan, so in late '82 when "thriller" came out, it was, pardon the pun, a victory for me personally...
now, let me say that i too have experienced a certain kind of inexplainable joy in just hearing michael sing, so i do understand what you're talking about in the initial statement. but let's look at this from the angle of the title "king of pop". pop music has become a commercially driven machine that has taken, and continues to take, the art of music and turn it into a drug designed to deliver a short lived high. (all for the sake of $$$). michael jackson has mastered this formula, or at least he did in the late 80's and 90's. now this is very effective with a listening puplic that is comprised of sheep, which is what most of the public are. a lot of people complained about m.j. being called the king of pop, but in all honesty that is exactly what he made himself...
in my humble opinion, m.j. lost his soul to fame. sometime around '92, the show, or the illusion became more important than the true art. the art of singing and dancing that made him what he was in the 70's and 80's... one bad mutha-shut-yo-mouth... he started lipsyncing 80% of his concerts, kept doing the same routines, and ceased in being an innovative force in the art of song and dance...
i know this sounds harsh, but it's true. and take it from a fan from the past who is truly saddened by this. it pretty much breaks my heart to see and hear (or not, as the case may be)...
prince, on the other hand, went a different direction with his. it's like the line in "my name is prince" ("i've seen the top, and it's just a dream" or "...will save your face, but it won't save your soul". he knew what was important in terms of maintaining a solid foundation for his expressions of art. he hasn't been affraid to take chances and grow, but most importantly, stay true...
m.j., on the other hand, has surrounded himself with so many famous people telling him how great he is and not one of them challenging him to be, even better. it is so amazing to me that even someone as internationally renowned as m.j. could still fall prey to the fact that "we are known for the company that we keep. and we can become a reflection of our peers." (you can interpret that how you like)...
keep in mind that this is also a reflection of all those who buy into it. the people must be truly blind to accept some of the soulless crap m.j. has delivered on tour over the past 10 years, and on record with 80% of "invincible" (a record that seems to be trying to prove something to boybands). nuff said on that...
look... don't think of prince as a pop artist. that is not what he represents, especially in the currrent state of pop. prince represents, in a way, what pop used to stand for... the best of the best of all types of music, with different sounds, textures and emotions. until the return of true pop, prince will never have the kind of fan-base m.j. has. and for that we can all be truly thankful...
peace, and keep it on the 1...

First of all MJ always wanted to be like Prince.
Second, the man looks so scary now that it's a shame that he let some surgeon do that to him.
Third, MJ time has passed him by. Prince's time has passed by too. Both have to relie on their die hard fans now and he got to realize that. Prince does the things that he does because his fan base is small now, but he figured out a way to make money without selling millions of records.

The crazy thing would be if MJ asked Prince if he can be down with him and put a label together. Then they can do as they want as Prince does, put out collaborations or what ever. It would be too much, but it would be funky

I'm sorry, but I thought this was prince.org!! For a minute there I thought I had lost my mind and gone to a Michael Jackson site. He has a fan base because back in the day, like circa Jackson Five to Thriller he was cool. Then he went all plastic surgery crazy and got weird on everybody! So, regardless of how I Personally feel about him, this is a prince site, so you'll probably get answers to your questions elsewhere.rolleyes
I'm back!!!!!!!

Why do you guys have to keep starting multiple Michael Jackson threads basically discussing the SAME things? Why not just add your comments on the existing MJ threads? This is getting tiresome sad

jnoel... you need to stop being so abusive to everyone. In the past 10 minutes I have been on 3 threads in which you have called people 'morons'. Perhaps it is a French custom, in which case fine - just don't do it here. You are free to express your opinion, as is everyone. Just please try to be nice.

threads like this make me realise how important looks are in shaping a person's opinion. Most threads mention his looks. Looks are everything, and nobody takes MJ seriously because he's white, dressed in black and carrying an umbrella. Sad, really...
