Britney Spears Working On New Album To Boost 'Boring' Pop Scene

A week after published snapshots showing her driving with infant son Sean Preston sitting in her lap ignited the ire of U.S. Transportation Secretary Norman Mineta, Britney Spears has lashed out at paparazzi, saying she's afraid to take her 4-month-old child out in public.

"I don't really go out with him," Spears said in a People magazine interview that hits newsstands Friday (February 17). "And it's kind of sad because I can't walk down the street with a stroller. I'm not expecting people to pity me. I'm just telling the truth."

Spears told the magazine that she's sought assistance from the police in the past to help her deal with overzealous paparazzi. "I've pulled over and asked the cops, 'Could you please help me? They've been driving recklessly back there.' And they say, 'Sorry ma'am, I can't help you. This is how it is.' I mean, Princess Diana got killed by one of these people. They're crossing the line."

Spears also told People that she's been longing for the spotlight and is anxious to resume her career.

"This may sound weird, but I miss traveling," she said. "I miss the road, seeing different places and being with the dancers and having fun. That feeling of being on the stage, knowing it's your best — I love that. I needed a break. I needed to be hungry again."

Spears is in the midst of recording her next album, which could surface later this year. She told People that her new music could reinvigorate the current pop scene.

"It's been boring," she said. "Nothing's been wow to me."

Oh, how sad. She's got it so rough.

....The singer is hoping to shock fans when she returns to the limelight later this year, by ditching her pop sound for a new bluesy style.

She explains, "I used to listen to blues music and all that stuff. I would like to try to have more influences of that sound.

"Not that I'm going to be like frickin' Tina Turner, but you never know."

ssb- I love how she uses phases like "I used to listen to blues music and all that stuff". SHe sounds so sophisticated and yet conversely like she is about to desimate a genre single handedly.

I hate to say this, but if she has spawned a host of imitators in her absence, and she has observed them on the scene, and her conclusion is that the scene is "boring" . . .

I find her music boring, what is she talking about. She copied everything (except the good music) from Janet Jackson. There is nothing original about her.

The music scene is boring and Britney is right about that but what makes her think her music didn't contribute to the madness? She must be tone deaf. IT also confirms one more thing: That bitch is crazier than crazy.

This one's for you Britney: brick brick
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Agreed but with a collection of cliches like her last album, you ain't going to help. I like Britney, though.

She will...She'll write some personal ballad about it which will possibly be a comeback hit (I was surprised "Everytime" did ok, didn't it?).

Not sure if you're serious, but I will assume you are. I like Britney, but that's not happening. Keep in mind Madonna is a writer I would say almost before she is a singer. Britney's writing and material is often very blah and not very real. She never goes there and keep in mind, "Like A Prayer" also had great dance songs with real emotion....I don't see that coming from Britney. Also, Madonna had two producers she had been working with for years (on one hit album and one hit soundtrack). Britney will probably start from strach again unless she reuintes with Max Martin, which could be good for some light pop hits. It's not impossible, though.

Britney's next album might be alright. I enjoyed her most recent songs "Over To You Now" and "And Then We Kiss".

Never heard of "Over To You Now" but liked "And Then We Kiss" better than most of the newly recorded songs for her hits album (although I kind of dug her cover of "My Pregoative".

she should be more worried about going out with him because she's negligent and doesn't put him in a baby seat. hell, she was probably letting him steer.

Spears told the magazine that she's sought assistance from the police in the past to help her deal with overzealous paparazzi. "I've pulled over and asked the cops, 'Could you please help me? um, wasn't that disproven about 8 years ago? she was killed by her driver being on pills and booze, wasn't she?
