Love Mutations even better than Sea Change. It is what it is, and it's not trying too hard to be a "serious" album.

I dont think sea change is trying to be serious... i think it was the general concept however.. but nigel is good about choosing the proper songs..

Lost Cause, Golden Age, Paper Tiger are simply brilliant...

Don't get me wrong, it's a really good record, but I believe it's a response to the criticizm I'm sure Beck's gotten about being too cartoonish & silly, and not singing songs from the heart. Even the title "Sea Change" indicates this new direction to me.

Mutations is my fave between the two altough I like Sea Change I play Mutations more often. I love Diamond Bollocks which is the unlisted track on US versions. Also I love all the b-sides/extra tracks from this era.
Someone needs to post a comprehensive B-sides list for Beck. He has so many that are worth seeking out. cool
Fantasy is reality in the world today. But I'll keep hangin in there, that is the only way.
