Ghostface clowns "Laffy Taffy"

At a recent concert featuring Wu legends, Ghostface lashed out at D4L calling their music bullshit and telling fans to quit supporting such bullshit. They added insult to injury when Raekwon did the Laffy Taffy dance in the background while the song played.

Ghostface is on a mission to bring New York hip-hop back, but he may just alienate the south in the process. During a Wu-Tang Clan's concert earlier this week, the Wally Champ told concertgoers they were messing up by supporting watered down music. The DJ then dropped "Laffy Taffy," prompting Ghost to mockingly do the "set it out" dance. "That wasn't our shit G. See this is real hip-hop," Ghost declared before playing Eric B. and Rakim's "Eric B. For President" and Boogie Down Productions' "The Bridge is Over" minutes later. "Stop supporting that bullshit." He also added that the South wasn't the first place popularize grills, that old school NY heads were rocking the steez years ago.

Ah well.
I guess he just couldn't take it anymore. I understand his frustration and I see his point, but people are going to support what they like. Some of the stuff out there that I think is completely stupid (like "Laffy Taffy") is still speaking to someone else in a way that makes them feel good. As an artist, one can only worry about themselves and let the music speak.

How depressing that his examples of real hip-hop ("Eric B Is President" and "The Bridge Is Over") are 20 years old now though, lol

falloff the dance! falloff oh my god, I am crackin' up. D4L's other song "Betcha Can't" ( I think that's the name) is garbage too.....sounds almost like Laffy Taffy. shit, somebody likes it though.....it was blazing up the charts back when it came out. lol

That is so sad. I do agree with Ghost. Laffy Taffy is downright pitiful and people need to stop supporting it but Ghost and his crew need to make music that makes people forget that a Laffy Taffy or My Humps ever existed. God only knows if anyone in hip hop can make a killer album or record again. I'm not holding my breath.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I agree, and I hear that whistle song in my nightmares. It's just terrible, as is most of the stuff that's on the radio nowadays.

lol Luckily, I haven't had the misfortune of hearing this, either. Just a few snippets from television shows mocking it was plenty for me, thank you. smile

e) it's called laffy taffy
f) 1980's PC speakers play tunes that sound like mozart next to laffy taffy

I was on the roof disco (Voodoo Lounge) of The Rio...

...in Las Vegas.

Standing there thinking to myself, "They sure do play some horrid music."
It was then that I heard the fatal words...

My love, my love, my love, my love
You love my lady lumps,
My hump, my hump, my hump

...headache

Realizing that I had been irreparably damaged, I considered going over the railing and plunging 51 floors to my death. confused
