this band is so horrible..and how do i know?..well at my local school almost everyone listens to them, well expect people who have good taste in music. i mean this band is really a joke, they mix psuedo-poetic songs about suicide, love, gloom into a big combo of mellodrama. this band is a hard rock version of the cure!!..really horrible..i mean whats so romantic about dying and being in love..i mean just listen at the song by them called razorblade romance..i believe its call what is call, another thing that really nerves me is the lack of orginality..i mean they use the whole big satanic wagon, meaning as the lead singer, vile(its vill..but i said VILE!) valo saids he's a satanist...i mean satanism in rockmusic is not even shocking nor scary as it was oh lets say in the 70's..anyways..im done...

Sorry, no me gusta "H.I.M." I gave it a few tries when I got a cd single of a couple of his songs. It just was not my bag. Seems to be popular with the little Hot Topic mallrats though.

I totally agree with you there. I've noticed that the H.I.M. followers in my area think they are tough little kiddies. A friend of mine ended up getting into a brawl after a club night and when I looked at this person's myspace, I said to myself..."Oh no wonder! She's a H.I.M fan!" lol Tattoo and all, I tell ya.

Unfortunately, HIM is a Finnish band so yes I've heard of the group. Quite frankly they suck balls... big time. They write horrible, crappy songs that 13-year-old wannabe goths listen to... disbelief. Also, the singer's name is Ville Valo, not Vill Valo. The name of the group, HIM, stands for His Infernal Majesty... now cmon... seriously... how goddamn lame is that? lol lol

It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

I've seen the "Butterfly" video on AOL on demand. I like how over-the-top it is with their huge logo on the top of the building and the searchlights, etc. I used to have the 'Razorblade Romance' album. Their sound is okay. I think they are harmless enough--very watered-down goth-metal. I'd rather listen to them than Limp Bizkit.

This is so funny that this band is being mentioned today. I was just checking Ross Halfin's site, as I always do, and he has them listed in the "bands" list of people he's photographed. I was just looking at these pictures today trying to figure out who the hell it was. lol

So very scary. rolleyes

Trapped in a box.

Genuine badasses. neutral

Trying WAY too hard to be HR Giger. confused

No, he didn't. Not by a long-shot. confused Don't be such a jerk.

HIM is an okay band for teens to listen to, altough they are far too poppy for my own personal taste (I bought one of their albums some years ago, but took it to an exchange store already the next day). Many of the songs have admittably beautiful melodies and if anyone is going to put down a group for simply being "satanic", I guess you just don't fucking listen to a wide variety of good music then. Not that HIM would exactly be the epitome of "wide variety of good music" themselves, but it just boggles me how people can be so narrow-minded to a broader scope of aesthetics.

HIM is actually the most successful soft-metal band in the world today and they reached even the US TOP20 album charts this fall - much to the promotional help of many US celebrities like Bam Margera or Kelly Osbourne. Of course, Ville Valo has always had tons of charisma and in many ways he is one of the last remaining rock stars on the planet.

They could do with a bit more musical ambition and willingness to experiment though. confused

I highly doubt that. That sounds absolutely nothing like mr. Valo would say. If he had said something like that it would have caused a media storm over here in Finland, because he is basically a Michael Jackson-level celebrity over here. Either you are making things up or have misunderstood a joke. He has many times for instance joked about getting fatter over the recent years for "drinking too much blood". Valo is a far too smart and normal guy to be into satanism. In fact he has many times denounced satanism himself, and usually just laughs on the accusations of the religious fanatics.

Calling somebody a "jerk" for making up false rumours is completely normal behaviour. You are entitled to your opinion and I don't accuse for thinking that "HIM sucks", because I clearly don't think it's the greatest band in the world either. But if you still insist on Ville Valo being a satanist I will not only call you "a jerk" but "a moron" as well.

As do I. I'm not real familiar with their stuff, but what I've heard appears to be good, old-fashioned rock with lots of theatricality. They seem to be doing the good ol' over-the-top stage persona combined with fitting music and lyrics.
