I KNOW! I found it on Ebay for 20. All of her albums are pricey (and very worth it). Getting it used or trying ebay is the way to go.

The album sleeve for Party People is HOT! It is printed on this type of paper that has holographic stars all over it.

They had lost their funess after almost 2 decades of music and one decade of that basking in hte celebrity that crossing over and becomeing international made them. Her albums go back to the FUN. Though they definitely are not P5 albums. I have grown to appreciate HER and what she brings to the table more so than P5.

Her albums are as good as those that produce them. Normally she has MANY producers for any given disc thus creating an eclectic album each time. Her first disc, Miss Maki Nomiya sings is the P5 disc that never was.

So if you love them and miss them, I say it would behoove you to try and seek out her music. I have to say the packaging on both Miss SIngs and Party People are really nice and thus making the albums nice to have.

A) Matador records and Going international I think did not help. Though we would never have heard them otherwise.

B) I often wonder if Maki and the Main guy from P5 dated and if so...maybe they broke up.

C) She got more recognition than P5 ever did. Could have been an issue.

D) P5 had run it's course...about 2 decades. Although the music in the first decade was much different than when Twiggy Vs James Bond came about.

MAKI NOMIYA has a great voice, but the title of japanese madonna is Ayu's!

She dominates the charts! Her MY STORY album is a gem!

Given that I'm now in Japan, maybe I should try to check out some of the J-pop stuff. Tower Records in Naha has one section for Japanese stuff, with the "international artists" in another section. They've got listening stations up in both sections...so I can check some of the Japanese stuff without buying.

Who else should I look out for? Any other recent releases (those are more likely to be on a listening station)?

i've heard some good stuff about her, supposedly a japanese Kate Bush. i still haven't been motivated enough to pick up one of her cd's.
