After watching the clip of Chaka playing the drums and jamming with Rufus and also constantly listening to Rufus' albums for many months, I have come down to the question: asking all of Rufus & Chaka Khan fans what's their single favorite album. My personal favorite would have to be Ask Rufus! With this album, they finally reached their zenith and Chaka's voice was as rich and vibrant than ever. This was where they moved from earthy and raw funk-soul to more smooth soul doing ballads and jazzy numbers that were timeless. So, what's your fave Rufus record?

i just recently got the best of rufus and i love every track on it...so i'll be interested to know what folks think i should check out next!

Released in late 1975,the self titled 'Rufus featuring Chaka Khan' album is my favorite.This was a big album for them,containing the hits "Dance With Me" and "Sweet Thing".Other strong tracks include "Fool's Paradise","Circles" and a funky remake of the Bee Gees' "Jive Talkin".

it's a cool CD,but they really deserve a more thorough 2-CD set retrospective,and a remastering of their classic 70s albums.

yup, that's the one - and i'm sure you're right...but this collection is the first dip i've ever taken into their stuff, so it was better than nothing. i'd have happily opted for something more comprehensive if it was out there to get.

Rufusized and that live joint Stompin' at the Savoy. Are my favs. But hell I'm a Bobby Watson and Tony Maiden fan so I dig all of them.

I can't even find a picture of it online but the was a best of that came out about seven years ago that was an import that every one of my favorite rufus and Chaka songs on it. Someone stile it from me.

I am fiending for some Please Pardon Me.

My personal favorite is Rufusized; I grew up with that album in constant rotation! "Stop On By", "Somebody's Watching You", "Pack'd My Bags", "Please Pardon Me", "Once You Get Started", "I'm A Woman" -- the whole album is just phenomenal.

Ask Rufus is a very close second. I call it "the Quincy Jones album that Quincy didn't produce".

This is their PRIMEST MOMENT,,,,,IMHO anyway(she acknowledged that its her own personal fave album).



Everything flow nicely from start to finish. Rufusized is my 2nd FAVE too

BTW I hear ALOT of JONI MITCHELL influence on Ask Rufus esp in the song Egyptian Song, anybody feels me on this?

did you guys notice how mellow 'Ask Rufus' is compared to earlier albums? It starts off with a blistering funk jam "At Midnight(My Love Will Lift You Up)",then it becomes moody and slow,even jazzy at times.The next album 'Street Player' is also very mellow....how do y'all feel about that album? I noticed that no one listed it as their favorite.
