JazzyJ

Weather Report- Live & Unreleased: A passport to the island of grooves.

Sly & The Family Stone- Riot & Small Talk: A masterpiece and a forgotten jewel
I mean who gug Sly adding his one-man string section to the band?

Crusaders-1 : The first official album I believe with "Jazz" dropped from their name, and the funk took over.

Santana- Barboletta & Amigos: The most overlooked Santana albums from the 70's, Both are just too cool.

You know, I've been hearing so much about this song lately. It's been getting a lot of buzz and attention in the dance/pop/electronic circles.

Right now I am listening to rare funk or disco songs. Examples:

Aurra-Are you single
Aurra-Checking you out
Janet Jackson-Young Love
Fantasy-You're too late
Al Hudson-You can do it 12 inch mix
Jerry Knight-Fire and Overnight Sensation
Barkays-Holy Ghost
BB & Q-On the Beat
Brandi Wells (RIP)-Watch Out
Cameo-I Like it
Fatback-Kool Whip
Rick James (RIP)-Ghetto Life
Ritchie Family-I'll do my best

Since I am a music lover one day I might be listening to funk or disco songs or the next day is the New Jack era or another day the songs from 1996-98. Depends on my mood. biggrin

I've been going through all my old Curtis Mayfield and Marvin Gaye records lately, once that project's finished I'll go back to real music, like you know, Black Metal and stuff like that.

Right now,

An oldie from REM - Reckoning, still a very good cd, especially the more melancholic tracks (SO Central Rain, Annelise (time after time) and Camera)

The last days / weeks:

Teddy Thompson - Seperate ways (son of folkrockers Richard and Linda Thompson: the songwriting is decent, his singing is splendid)

Bettie Serveert - Dutch indie-rock (aking to Buffalo Tom)

Susan McKeown - Sweet Liberty, english singer who mainly sings folk traditionals, one song on this cd qets me very quite, The isle of France, sheer beauty.

Kate Rusby - 10, welsh singer who also sings a lot of folk traditionals, the voice of angel

King's X - Ogre Tones, the latest cd of this 'power-trio' who combine hardrock with psychedelic (beatlesque) harmonies. Not their best, but a few splendid songs (Get away, a new version of their song Goldilox)

Avalon Sunset - Van Morrison (have i told you lately stays a splendid song - forget about the rod stewart cover-version, this one is much more tender, and better, Orangefield is also great)

Prince - The Gold Experience (the last Prince-cd i listened to in the last weeks, his last 'very good' - ****star record in my opinion)
