I think he's very clever and adept at what he does. I think in songs like "My Name Is" and "Without Me" he gets gross and disturbing and, yet, those songs are very fun to listen to. And I like his heavier fare too, particularly "Stan". That said, the lyrical structure of MANY of his songs is pretty much the same. You can rap the lyrics (if you know the words) from "Without Me" to the music from "The Real Slim Shady" and vice versa. I haven't taken the time to figure out his 'typical' rhyme schema (a-b-b-a-c-c-a, or what have you), but I'm betting you it'd be fairly identical on a plethora of his tracks.

I think an argument could be made for a need to have him work with a wide variety of producers,too. Dr. Dre didn't produce "Lose Yourself", for example, and that's one of his best tracks to date. I like some of Dre's work, don't get me wrong, but the spitting, crashing, barking, and sneezing noises become tiresome and a juvenile upon about the second or third listen.

Go listen to "You're My Heart". Not a great LL song, but I guess that's my point too... I don't enjoy Eminem's overblown dramatic songs, and they sound just as corny as that one.

Oh, Eminem on th eother hand? Well, let me just quote a few lines from his recent single:

It should be made illegal for rappers to say "Daddy" that many times on a song and forcing everybody to listen to it everywhere. I mean even Sesame Street songs mention the word "Daddy" far fewer times than most Eminem songs.
