U2 : Heartland.

Isn't this "Rattle and Hum" track one of their best, and most overlooked songs?

It's always been my favorite song from that album but it seems i'm in the minority.

U2 fans? Thoughts?

I'm definitely guilty of overlooking it. Whenever I play it, I'm always struck by how pretty it is, but I forget about it as soon as 'God Part II' comes on. I think the sequencing on the album is off; it's the only U2 album that I really skip around on when I'm listening to it.

Yup. An excellent vocal performance by Bono too. Nice moody music by the boys. I love their bass-based songs.

It sounds like it should have been on The Joshua Tree or at least a outtake. All that aside, it's a great song. smile

Yeah, I wish they had made a live album in '88 and put out an album of the new studio recordings in '89. I don't really like how they go together.

you are SO RIGHT. I could have lived w/out a live album - the live stuff could have been relegated to a video or b-sides. Rattle and Hum should have been a studio album all the way... with twp exceptions. Helter Skelter opening the album RULEZ, and All Along the Watchtower could have given a real punch to the 2nd half of the album. I like the idea of one or two live tracks, kinda like
SOTT, but the mix and match with the old material and new just didn't work.

How 'bout this:

1. Helter Skelter (Live)
2. Van Diemen's Land
3. Desire
4. Hawkmoon 269
5. Silver and Gold (studio re-recording)
6. Spanish Eyes (studio re-recording)
7. Hallelujah Here She Comes

8. Angel of Harlem
9. Love Rescue Me
10. When Love Comes To Town
11. Heartland
12. God Part II
13. All Along The Watchtower (live)
14. All I Want Is You

I like it. smile

Absolutely, Heartland and Hawkmoon are two of my very favorite U2 songs

And of course All I Want Is You is right up there too.

The studio tracks were so fantastic, weren't they! I listened to this album constantly in oh, 1989
