Janet can sing live (videoclip)

Of course Janet Jackson is no Whitney Houston or Aretha Franklin vocally, but the girl sure can sing live and dance at the same time.

Well the lead vocals is not from the record so if she is it must be pre-recorded and then I have to say that she sure has put out an effort to get it to sound "live" since she doesn't pitch correct on a few occasions, she misses a word on one occasion, you can hear her breath and she laughs/giggles a few times plus she does an "oooooh" etc. It is obvious that she uses the backgroundsvocals and music from the record though.

LOL,

Janet at best is a very good entertainer, she carries a tune very well (better than Ashanti), she is easy on the eyes, related to Micheal Jackson (which doesn't mean anything anymore so she has to work even harder) and has well produced pop records geared for the radio. I love her for who she is, I was just dissapointed with her last album....

It's no prerecorded tape, that's the same record as what you hear on the velvet rope. Janet hardly ever sings live. The only time I know she sang live a little was on the 2 HBO specials there were a couple of songs where she hit the wrong notes.

Doesn't Janet sing live on songs like "Again", and "Let's wait awhile" in her concerts?

Hmmm. It's hard to tell because the video is jumpy so can't really judget the audio to video synch ..... ( a tell-tale sign of lip synching).

I do remember years ago Jam & Lewis said they often "redo the songs" for live performances, so it's very posisble she recorded a "live" take of the lead vocal track ahead of time, keeping in the breaths and the other natural elements and then lip synched to it. (Celine Dionne does that, I've heard and seen.) Kind of like the Control video, which I LOVE... but that is prettly clearly not truly "live" as in the video is not taken from the same audio.

If she was doing it live, she was in pretty amazing aerobic condition.

The part that seems hard to buy is when she jumps up and down while singing and when she lands there is no vibrato or anything.

I saw Janet live for RN 1814 and All For You tours, and she does usually sing hte ballads live. And she might even sing some of the leads once in a while in addition to the "guide vocal" as no-talent Ashlee S calls it.
