Kelly collected a leading three nominations for the 20th annual Soul Train Music Awards, show creator Don Cornelius announced Thursday. The R&B crooner received a best male R&B-soul album nod for "TP.3 Reloaded," while his song "Trapped in the Closet (Chapter 1 of 5)" garnered nominations for best male R&B-soul single and best R&B-soul or rap music video. Maybe this is the wrong attitude, but I don't really take the Soul Train Music Awards seriously anymore...it use to be a "must see" telecast back in the 80's and early to mid 90's but now I just feel like it's a joke...like the Source and Vibe awards... I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

who watches this crap? Who indeed!! I'm not even sure I'll be able to watch the Grammys either, but I probably will in the hopes that they give at least one or two awards to the appropriate people. I have my doubts, but one can always hope

I think it's funny that Gwen is nominated for a Soul Train award for Hollaback.
Being a black kid that was raised on Teena MArie, and came of age when George Michael and Culture Club S-WEEEEPed awards and accolades from the American R&B community, I don't mind when non-blacks succeed in the Soul music arena... but HOLLA BACK????? WTF???? and don't get me wrong...I actually LIKE that song because it takes me back to my Adam Ant/Bow Wow Wow peiod as an 80's teen, but to be nominated for a STA???? If anything, she would be more worthy of being nominated for "Luxurious" ----because at least they had the good sense to rip a loop from an Isley's slow jam classic, LOL !

He has far too much class, but I guess he wants the air time too. I will not be watching the Soul Train awards - that's for sure.
