"Her album is going to be called '20 Years Old,'" he says, "because that's how old she feels, and that's how long it's been since she put out 'Control.'" That's what gets on my nerves with her. She had two great albums that did moderately well on R&B radio before she had "Control" but she acts like "Control" is her first album because it's the first one to be accepted in the pop world. This is the second time she's given the finger to R&B. The first time was ten years ago with "Design Of A Decade: 1986-1996". Andy is a four letter word.

I don't have the "Janet Jackson" album but "Dream Street", despite moderate R&B chart success, was very pop...It was producded by Giorgio Moroder! I understand your arguement, though..I do think this new album will be very R&b sounding, though.

While I don't care for the album title either, I just hope the music is good. And i'm not buying Jermaine Dupri's excuse for Janet's weight gain. a). They could've put her in a fat suit like they did for Martin Lawrence in Big Mama's House. It worked for Gweneth Paltrow too. b). Why did her character have to be overweight? They could've just added some make-up if they wanted her to appear older c) I'm sure they could've found someone age and weight appropriate to play that role. This sounds like a script Janet would've turned down.

So true. Actually I don't know what to expect from Janet and a title doesn't equate content. The last few times I've been disappointed. Nothing has quite lived up to the expectation or fit into descriptions given to her albums so rather than get excited I'm just gonna wait and see what she churns out. I'm not buying the weight gain for a movie role either. Too risky for someone who has weight issues and too easy to get a good actress who already has the body type they're looking for. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

I tend to buy the weight gain because most women dont have her uber-fit bod..and if she is playing and everyday woman she would have to "normalize" herself...but she probably went overboard and gained additional weight. Why the hell would the role she played in Poetic Justice require her to gain weight? I don't buy that at all.
She's always had to work hard to maintain her figure over the years, so I don't think some not even certain role in an Indie film would make her purposely put that on. And before the project was even properly green-lighted? See now, I can understand Reneé Zellweger putting on weight for Bridget Jones (although here are plenty of just as good actresses already that size), but she's a slight frame and can easily take it off. Seriously, you think Oprah would risk what she went through and gain weight like that for a film role? And her job isn't even singing & dancing around and being perceived as sexy, like Janet.

Oprah was told to stop trying to lose weight once she got picked up for The Color Purple. But a Speilberg film and an indie film are two different things. It's all neither here nor there at the end of the day but makes for interestng discussion. [Edited 2/9/06 9:41am] Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

I'll leave it alone babe...just be me

She didn't need to gain much more weight. She had JUST started at fat camp--hadn't hooked up with Bob Greene yet. It was a role she wanted and connected with, and when they saw her they felt that she was Celie. That's rare for someone who's never acted before. It was a professional and personal milestone for her. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

Although the article does not mention the film by name, it is assumed that the film being referred to is "Tennessee." It had been previously announced late last year that Janet would be starring in this film with Macaulay Culkin and Martin Henderson. The album is due out this summer.
