LOST MUSIC- putting the turntable and cassete deck in the attic..

The time has come. In an attempt to get rid of that infamous "clutter" all those shows talk about, I'm putting my turntable, cassette deck, and all my vinyl records and cassettes away forever. (Not getting rid of them, it's too hard to do that!) Before I do this, I'm digitizing those unreleased records and 12"s that are out of print.

Why is Gap Band V not available on cd? (I'm Ready, Jam to the Motha)
Midnight Magic by the Commodores? (Gettin It', You're Special)

These records are by multiplatinum artists, but I guess the record companies don't think the fans want them on cd? Let's not even mention the Family, Madhouse, Jill Jones and all those 12" Prince singles and 12" B sides!

I hope someday they'll put all this out at least on mp3 or some other digital technology. There's tons of great old music that could be gone forever.

So today the turntable, vinyl and all those homemade cassettes are going away. I feel really old today.. sad

Did you shop around online - like on amazon.com?
The Commodores bring back great memories for me,too....wow, I'm getting old...but I revel in it....I'm smarter and wiser, and the wrinkles only add character!!

I could never do that. There are still new 12" singles being released that I want.

And if you are putting them away "forever" then why not just get rid of them? Why keep something that you will never use/play again?

I know that's right! There is so many great new and old music I get on record. I don't know why some people start to chuckle when I tell them I have a turntable-- a new 1 at that.

Then I remind them there are so many new songs and remixes they won't get because they're on vinyl, then they start asking for stuff.

If you've already "replaced" some of these titles on CD, you might be able to make some money re-selling them as used, like, or credit on more music if you trade them in.

Don't put cassettes and records away because it seems like the formats are dead. New vinyl is still being put out. Cassettes have always been great for home use and never skip.

Besides, CDs are basically obsolete now too, and you're not putting them away!

A Turntable deck (at least my 3 decks) make my room look more fancy and like I got a real hobby in life. It's a design thing to me that I am proud of. Even the records sitting in the living room is a reflection of lmy life. I would never hide my goodies..

Unless someone steal my Lisa Lisa Spanish Fly like they did last time mad
