According to Billboard.com, Larry Graham had orignally been scheduled to perform, however he had fallen ill the day of the grammys.

Billboard states:

Joining guitarist Stone and Errico backstage, sans Sly, were original Family Stone members Cynthia Robinson (trumpet), Jerry Martini (sax) and Sly's sister Rose Banks (piano, vocals). Bassist Larry Graham was not on hand, having fallen ill the day of the show.

With thanks to housequake.

Stymie, you know better than that. Prince is a grown man. Thats the path that he is chosing to go musically these days. I think that he still as funky as ever. You don't have to be nasty to be funky. All you need is alittle STANK STANK. LOL

looking back at it
i'm glad larry didnt participate in that pitiful excuse 4 a reunion
the family stone wasnt even given the spotlight at the performance
no one cared the family stone was there!
heck,if it wasnt 4 greg's drum set, i would not have known they were even there
and larry just would have been another "tree in forest..."
another person 4 the unbeknowst 2 say "who was that man in that white suit looking pitiful?"

it's sad 2 c a band that had so much impact on american pop music given a tribute that's reserved for three dog night!

i didnt have a problem with sly's appearance, i was just happy 2 c him still alive (dude is a recovering stroke victim and a lifetime chronic drug abuser), i had a problem with the producers who put that disrespectful crap 2gether!

....the scary thing is that the same kind of tribute could happen 2 prince and the revolution (or fill in ur fav band)one day
minor keys and drugs don't make a rollerskate jam

I agree.

The 'tribute' was a travesty.

Prince did a superior job years ago.

PS, why does most of the people on here have such a problem with LARRY? The man really tries to live his life the right way. By that I mean he keeps things positive and he doesn't bother anyone. You never hear anything negative abiut him on the news or tv. I understand that he is a very spiritual man, but why would anyone be mad at him because of his religion? I'm not a JW nor do I agree with their beliefs, but what does that have to do with the man himself. Hell muhammad Ali is a MUS. I don't agree with that religion but I don't hold it against him. I'm just curious.

Because they are a bunch of bigots and that is the only reason they hate on Larry. Who from all reports appears to be a nice guy and his not a walking basket case like Sly.

What happened to the most important member Freddie Stone on guitar?

Freddie was there. He was lost in the crowd.
