If he ducks out tonight, he may as well stay gone. This is his best opportunity to ride a 'resurrection', so to speak. In the words of Prince, "Those kinds of cars don't pass you everyday!"

i think he can get away with another no-show if he wants...it would just add to his legendary behavior.

Perhaps, but I think he really wants to get back in the game in some form or fashion so a no-show tonight would add to the legend. However, it would also cement the door closed on any future opportunities.

You got to be in the game before you can start throwing fouls! JMHO!

Besides wouldn't a no-show from Sly just make everyone think he couldn't do it without Larry? eek

i don't think sly needs anything from anyone at this point.

my guess is, fans need to see him more than he needs to be seen.

I'm always down for any appearance of LG in any regard, but a true Family Stone reunion is much more monumental than ANYTHING Prince could conceive. We are talking about the true pioneer funk band.

SHIT! MOTHER FUCKER! GODDAMN! If Larry shows this is as great as a BEATLES reunion would've been.

Thought I'd surf around different funk sites, see what the buzz was on Sly...but few are maintaining their sites these days. Sly's is very boring (but does mention tonight's gig). Bootsy's is scattered but he has some great Off The Hook Links (funky funky tunes) - worth a visit for the groove.

What is Clive Davis wearing in that photo? He looks Leo Sayer-ish. Or like he should be dancing with Rerun.

Well the performance sucked ass. He could not have been any worst if Larry was involved. You take the Family Stone and stick them behind people like Cicara.

Someone was smoking some serious crack.

Yeah, that's true. But how did he get a Solid Gold/Dance Fever shirt before those shows were created?

Yea, Who's laughing now? I knew that shit was going to happen. I'm talking about Larry musically now as apposed to sly. I don't care how much you like SLY, if you think that after 20 years of not playing he is better than Larry then you are fucking nuts. Don't be a dunce. Thats just stupid. Yes I like sly, but come on dude be real.

Well, the only issue with that statement is P already had The Family Stone band with him during the Jame of The Year Tour back in 97 and 98. The Grammies are 10 years behing on this idea.

Larry was scheduled to perform but did not because he fell ill on the day of the performance.

This has been reported.

Why people have to berate a man for his faith at every turn is beyond me.

DITTO.

If Larry was not a JW, nobody would even try such nonsense.

Larry didn't duck anyway.

Give the guy a break. Sly has lost it.

fell ill? sly didn't look like he was doing so well himself, but he managed to drop in for a minute or two. i don't care if you have walking pneumonia and two broken legs - on an occasion like this, you don't just call in sick. i'm not saying religion had a thing to do with it, but i don't buy this "falling ill" line.

Larry doesn't care for sly very much these days. I think that deep down he wishes him well, that being said, how can you or anyone be mad at larry who has obviously cared for his body properly for excepting the fact that SLY isn't going to change. If anyone Larry is willing to forgive Sly, he's that kind of man. But he's not a fool, and he isn't going to let the man make a fool of him the way that he made a fool of everyone on the stage the other night. And as much as most of you don't want to except it, LARRY was much more successful without SLY. Again I really like both of their music very much, hell I grew up on it , but at this point all I can do is pray for SLY.

PS, why does most of the people on here have such a problem with LARRY? The man really tries to live his life the right way. By that I mean he keeps things positive and he doesn't bother anyone. You never hear anything negative abiut him on the news or tv. I understand that he is a very spiritual man, but why would anyone be mad at him because of his religion? I'm not a JW nor do I agree with their beliefs, but what does that have to do with the man himself. Hell muhammad Ali is a MUS. I don't agree with that religion but I don't hold it against him. I'm just curious.
