Jeff Buckley was truly a gifted artist! Every time I see this LIVE DVD I get all sad and think what could've been!
GRACE is IMO one of the greatest recordings ever! Every minute of last night is on my face today....

He was a great talent. The guy had alot of promise. Such unique voices don't come by very often.
My favourite track was released posthumously. I think its called 'I know everybody here wants you'. The promo video is set in an airport. That's when I first became aware of him.

With the sorry ass state of rock music,he is terribly missed
he is a genius, even his unfinished work "For My Sweetheart The Drunk" is brilliant.A true original!

Sketches For My Sweetheart the Drunk was just simply amazing, well the first disk was.. EVERY song was just raw and had a funky feel to it.. its truely sad he left, and eye know if the guy was around, he would still be making GREAT music, he was in his own world, and it was nice 2 even hear that world for a slight moment... of his life

I've got 'Grace' and thought 'yeah.. o.k. this is nice an all - but this guy's supposed to be god, right?' 'Hallelujah' was good, but didn't some Canadian guy write that? I've probably listened to too much Swans and stuff of that ilk - Buckley just seems too bland (see Chris Issak, REM, U2, all that boring crap)... but you've got me thinking. I'll play it again soon.

Saw him live when he visited in Feb '96 and he was unbelievable...if possible his voice live was more amazing than on record especially Lover, You Shoulda Come Over. I was working at the theatre where he played and he came in the day before and I hardly recognised him cause he kinda looked all greasy. I was playing The Smiths and he was grooving away to it, it made me smile. I can see why people don't like him, but I think one thing that his music isn't is 'bland'. Theres alot of colour and its 'dynamic' (for lack of a better word).
Every home should have a copy of 'Grace' and Sketches for My Sweetheart the Drunk is definitely worth having. I don't listen to the second disc so much because it has that kind of bootleg quality to it (how ironic, if it was an actual boot I'd probably be foaming at the mouth over it) but Sketches is cool because it doesn't allow 'Grace' to just sit as this unbelievable masterpiece that leaves questions about what might have been. Its a solid follow up to Grace, the songs aren't unbelievable but they're really good. Needless to say I was bummed when he died

I'm a bit off topic but do you know the song "Song to the siren" by his father Tim & covered by Dead Can Dance, it's amazing.

I'm pretty sure you version you mean is on "It'll end in Tears" by This Mortal Coil. I think someone from Dead can Dance was in the band, but the vocalist, I'm almost certain, was the incomparable Liz Frazer from Cocteau Twins.

I can't say I'd ever heard of Jeff Buckley until just now... -------
A census taker once tried to test me. I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice chianti... "I've just had an apostrophe!" "I think you mean an epiphany..."

Looove Jeff Buckley.
The first time I went over my boyfriends house, (when we were just friends and I had a HUGE crush on him), he played lots of great music and I knew he was the one. During Grace we had our first kiss/makeout session. It was so perfect! I'm pretty sure So Real was playing- I was a little lost in the moment... Other cds he played: Some Coltrane, Van Morrison, The Doors, a Real World Sampler, Until the End of The World Soundtrack, and Disc 1 from Emancipation!!! The fact that he played such a variety of music AND played a Prince cd that not even all Prince fans like, really impressed me. Boy, Jeff Buckley brings back some great memories!

I like the song "Everybody Here Wants You". Very mellow song.
