Control was another benchmark in the Minneapolis pop sound that artists like Prince and The Time was employing in their music at the time. My fave track on that whole album would have to be the classic ballad, Funny How Time Flies (When You're Having Fun), probably one of her most underrated songs ever, imo. I've been blasting Control non-stop on my iTunes for a few weeks now. And I've been watching the Design of a Decade DVD a lot with all the Control videos. This was an incredible era, man. The impact she made on pop music when she dropped this album was mega. I can almost re-live everything through the artifacts.

I love Control only because it opened the door for one of my favorite album in the world, Rhythmn Nation. I know folks vote Velvet Rope as her masterpiece, but Rhythmn Nation by all means to me is THE PERFECT ALBUM and it really sealed the deal on what Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis can do. Just my opinion.
