For a while they were showing the same old videos with a few gems in between every now and then. I always thought the could be great if they wanted to. And secretly wished that they would jack BET's old Video Soul and Video Vibrations playlist.

VH1 Soul Relaunches Feb. 1

JANUARY 24, 2006 -

VH1 Soul will relaunch Feb. 1, a move designed to coincide with Black History Month.

The digital cable network, which launched in 1997, will offer a new lineup of 10 specially-themed music video blocks, including Island Soul, which features reggae, calypso and ska tracks, and the not-at-all-ambiguously-titled Soulphrodisiac.

“This relaunch reflects VH1 Soul’s growth into a true destination,” said Eric Sherman, senior vp/general manager, VH1 Digital Television. “We’re building on our community of R&B music lovers by offering specific events and programming blocks that enhance the network’s accessibility and enjoyment.”

As part of the relaunch, VH1 Soul will also world premiere a new video every Monday throughout February.

No wonder they have been playing decent videos as of lately. They need to chill on that Heather Headly lauch party though. Can't wait for the full launch Feb 1.!!!

i tried watching vh1-soul this morning and i hated it. they had some dj guy and a model chick blabbing and it ruined it for me..

just play the eclectic mix of videos and shut up!!!

I like the straight up video format better (though I haven't seen the vj's yet but they're all annoying, so...) Make it genre specific if you like, just get those bitches yappin' out my ear

vh-1 classic does that with the 80's videos for an hour then a metal hour,70's video hour..i hope they never change it!

Except 4 the occasional artist, I havent seen any vjs.

That's cool. VH1 Soul lost its novelty to me a few years ago. They definitely need a change.

How many variations of a Jil Scott video are we gonna see in a given afternoon?!
