Dont anyone ever (Prince himselve) consider Earth, Wind and Fire 'Funk'!!!!!

They arent, they are showpeople, disco-artists, watered down woozies, but theres one thing for sure: EWF arent Funk!

Get it?????

Not quite.
There is an extreme high degree of serious musicianship in that band, past and present. They can rip off a funk jam when necessary, but the sins of "Boogie Wonderland" are their cross to bear.

100% agree. I never understood why they would be considered funk.

You guys have obviously never heard any of their pre-disco material. Admittedly EWF were always somewhat on the smooth, schmaltzy, but they were definitely a crack band and could funk it up with the best of them. See the album Gratitude for proof.

Man I can't believe this topic is still active. neutral
I have read some very good points though.
But we should note, and I apoligize if someones aleady made this point, there is a difference in something being "funky" and something being Funk. That may be blurred in alot of instances for those not "versed" and that's OK. Just if you don't know, ask somebody.
cool
Fantasy is reality in the world today. But I'll keep hangin in there, that is the only way.

The answer is: Yes.
Now let this thread die.
It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.
