Paul Weller of The Jam - - - bitter.

Weller slams music legends
From World Entertainment News Network
February 04, 2006 10:16 AM EST

Veteran rocker PAUL WELLER has lashed out at past winners of the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Brit Awards - just two weeks before he receives the prestigious honour.

THE JAM star - who has already launched a scathing attack on singer/songwriter JAMES BLUNT - questions the merit of previously presenting the award to SIR BOB GELDOF, because the former BOOMTOWN RAT achieved international fame for his charity work.

He says, "Bob Geldof. What did he win it for? Can't be for his music, man. I mean, if it's for his charity work in Africa then you can't knock it, but Boomtown Rats, f**k off."

And the 47-year-old has little time for ex-THE POLICE singer STING either: "F**king horrible man. Not my cup of tea at all. F**king rubbish. No edge, no attitude, no nothing."

Late QUEEN frontman FREDDIE MERCURY, who died of AIDS in 1991, fares little better: "He said he wanted to bring ballet to the working classes. What a c**t."

Weller is scheduled to perform a selection of his hits at the 15 February (06) British music industry ceremony in London. (FA/WNTMI/SC)

Well he's got a point about Geldof and Sting.

Although personally I'm dubious about U2 getting it in the past, when they're not British.

Yeah, harsh words. Sounds like he just wants some notoriety.

All the same, "You do something to meeeee-ee-eeeee"

This was when Paul Weller had something more intelligent to say....

A police car and a screaming siren
A pneumatic drill and ripped up concrete
A baby wailing and stray dog howling
The screech of brakes and lamp light blinking
That's Entertainment.

A smash of glass and a rumble of boots
An electric train and a ripped up 'phone booth
Paint splattered walls and the cry of a tomcat
Lights going out and a kick in the balls
That's Entertainment.

Days of speed and slow time Mondays
Pissing down with rain on a boring Wednesday
Watching the news and not eating your tea
A freezing cold flat and damp on the walls
That's Entertainment.

Waking up at 6 a.m. on a cool warm morning
Opening the windows and breathing in petrol
An amateur band rehearsing in a nearby yard
Watching the telly and thinking about your holidays
That's Entertainment.

Waking up from bad dreams and smoking cigarettes
Cuddling a warm girl and smelling stale perfume
A hot summer's day and sticky black tarmac
Fedding ducks in the park and wishing you were far away
That's Entertainment.

Two lovers kissing amongst the scream of midnight
Two lovers missing the tranquility of solitude
Getting a cab and travelling on buses
Reading the graffiti about slashed seat affairs
That's Entertainment.
Shut up already, damn.

shrug

My Mum works for event security and worked at his gig in Edinburgh last year, she said he was really bitter and nasty, talking about his fans - offstage - like they were dirt, and being really rude to everyone around him. I love the Jam, but delusions of grandeur if you ask me nod
