Trip Down Memory Lane: What Was Your First Ever Favourite Song?

I'm sure for alot of you, like me, your favourite song changes on almost a daily basis, depending on the way you feel at a particular time.

But what was your first ever favourite song?

Mine was Stevie Wonder's 'Part time lover'. I was about 7 and heard it on the radio while my Mom was driving me to a friend's house. I was totally taken by it. So for the next few days I listened to the radio non stop wishing it would come on again. I wound up taping the song by holding a tape recorder up to the radio speaker and hoping no one entered the room and ruin the recording. I must have played that song everyday for weeks. biggrin

ps: Remember taping songs off the radio in general and hoping the DJ wouldn't start talking before the song finished; or even worse talking in the middle of the song. Ahhh...the old days before we could easily download songs from the internet. smile

Ironically a Stevie song was my first favorite too, but it was "Living For The City". It was the first song I was ever fascinated by, the first song that ever made me cognizant of the transcendent possibilities of music. Stevie was the first person to make synthesizers a force to be reckoned with simply because he was a force to be reckoned with.

Aaah ... had to lol at this memory. I was like 4 years old, dancing around my room with my dolls and using a sweater on my head as "shake it like a hooker ..." extensions.
The song? Bad Girls, by Donna Summer ... Didn't know what in hell I was singing at the time. ONE

Mine was probably "The Longest Time" by Billy Joel which was really popular when I was about 6 years old or so. I think my parents were really into a cappella singing, and so some of that rubbed off on me back then, thus making that popular song a favorite of mine.

I'm almost embarrassed to admit this, but my first ever favorite song was "Shadow Dancing" by Andy Gibb.In the summer of 1978,I took my allowance and bought that record.I was only 9 years old and it was the first 45 I bought.

I downloaded this song recently on Ag, love it, you had great taste for a 3 years old.
Me... embarrassing shitty disco song, John Travolta + Olivia Newton-John duet in Grease.

Mine was "The Power of Love" by Celine Dion... I was 10 at the time (gosh, I'm really showing my age on this one).

My dad had the CD (yes, CD, no vinyls or 8-tracks here) so I lucked out and didn't have to buy it myself.
I mean, like, where is the sun?

Mine is a Stevie Song too, "I Just Called To Say I Love You". I don't know if there is something about Stevie's music that appeals especially to kids at very young age, but I remember playing with my first Star Wars figure (a stormtrooper) and I can also recall the green carpet I was sitting on (this was the 80's of course) and that song came blasting from some sort of collection tape my family had put together. Awh, memories...

mine was 'The Coat Of Many Colors' by Dolly Parton.

Dolly was all I heard in the first years of my life and I had that song memorized by the time I was 5.

I've never fully gotten it out of my head since! smile

My very first favorite song was "I'm A Fool" by Dino, Desi and Billy. My mom had their record from when she was a teen...I wore that record out in the late 70's!

I can't remember my first favorite song ever, but my first 3 albums (on cassette tape) I owned were Prince's Purple Rain, Michael Jackson's Thriller and Madonna's Like A Virgin.
What a great time to be alive.
