One of the finest vocals in all of the funk bands alongside Phillip Bailey. Glen could TRULY sing and not just doing that "owwwww gurrrrl" shit everybody else wore out. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."

Glen was the man. "Fantasy Is Reality" is one of Glen's finest moments. With his voice and Eddie's guitar, that song is so close to gospel. | |

So far, this is the best mutha-ship calling that I heard... He starts off soothing & mellow.. Then he rips it up until it lands....

of the 3 versions of "swing down" that I've heard Glenn do - from the '77 live cd from Oakland/LA, the dvd version from Houston & this version from youtube.com - I rank them like this :
1. the Houston live show dvd. maybe it's because there's the "visual element" of seeing Glenn build up the song to its climax. plus, in this particular version, I think he improvises better. 2. the live cd from Oakland/LA. this version is the 1 I know the best & have heard the longest. I think Glenn's "growls" are better in this version, maybe he sings it with a little more.. passion 3. the youtube.com version. granted, I've only watched this a few times in the last several days.. but in this version Glenn seems more.. subdued. maybe he wasn't feeling it that night, or maybe he was not yet in a grove for doing this song in all of the shows of that tour. to me, he simply seems more "out of it", for lack of a better expression. in any event, Glenn is acknowledged by most - including me - to be the best singer P-Funk ever had. Glenn DEFINITELY had that "gospel" quality to his singing, which was PERFECT for the "religious experience" of the Mothership landing. I'll see you tonight..

Everytime i hear "Funkin' For Fun" i get chills, for that fact really any of his vocals even the lil' scats i get chills.
