Most powerful music in a film

My vote goes for Once upon a time in West
That music is just breathtaking and makes 80% of the greatness of the movie. Without it, it would have been just an average western.
"When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

Maybe cause I just watched it but,
"Crimes of Passion" has a very strong soundtrack throughout the movie. Rick Wakeman did a great job with the music I had to buy the CD.

the end song for Set It Off...

sure, the movie is not considered a classic but damn if thats not one of the best use of music EVER..

also, Bagdad Cafe for Bagdade Cafe..

poo poo on George Michael and Babs for trying to do this song....without the film the song is nothing...without the song the film is nothing..

and *thats* how music should always be used.

Both the soundtrack and film are on my to-get list. Superb! I've already stated a few times in different threads that Gene Tierney is the most beautiful woman in film. love

I'll post my actual selections another time when I'm not sleepy. biggrin

If we're gonna talk about Film Noir, Gilda has a great track, Put The Blame on Mame, performed by Rita Hayworth,

talk about Hot.

I agree. That is a fantastic one. Speaking in general terms, I think the genres of noir and melodrama, by their very nature, had the best scores. Musical score was essential to their success as a film.

you're right, now that I think about it. They did have great scores

Sunset Boulevard, Double Indemnity....though I don't really pay attention to the scores because that's not my cup of tea, I doubt a score could make me like any of the Dashiell Hammett movies (yes, I don't like the Maltese Falcon) but on a whole Film Noir always sounded great. thumbs up!

the title track by Francis Lai is one of the most enduring and memorable I can think of, it sets the whole tone for the film, quite excellent.

Wow, she´s truly beautiful. I don´t think I have ever heard of her or seen a movie with her.

The soundtrack for "Donnie Darko" is extraordinary and hugely overlooked...and I don't mean the 80's songs..lol (although those are excellent in their choice and placement as well, especially "Mad World" at the end...brilliant).

Michael Andrews does an excellent job of creating a hauntingly beautiful atmosphere throughout the movie...listen to "The Artifact & Living" or to "Manipulated Living"...fantastic work. clapping

The opening scenes on the original"The Planet Of The Apes". All that expressionist orchestral music complimenting the desert shots. Strangely enough, not even Danny Elfman could top it on the remake.

Beautiful indeed.

However, in her younger days...

...Lauren Bacall could've given her a run for her money. wink
