claydes smith (kool & the gang)

while i've never been a fan of kool & the gang's disco/pop phase, their guitarist claydes smith had an ability to throw a sneaky jazz lick that made those songs come 2 life especially "too hot"....

He's a good and underrated player. Very versatile and smooth. Too bad he never gets a chance to really stretch out.
