Aretha Franklin`s Arista years Although most of us probably prefer her 70s work, she has made
a lot of good music after she left Atlantic records. 11 albums, which includes a gospel album, plenty of cover versions, duets with Whitney Houston, James Brown, Luther Vandross, George Michael, Eurythimcs, Elton John, Four tops, George Benson, and a few more. So, what do you think of the music she recorded for Arista? - Aretha (1980) - Love all the hurt away (1981) - Jump to it (1982) - Get it right (1983) - Who's zoomin' who? (1985) - Aretha (1986) - One lord, one faith, one baptism (1987) - Through the storm (1989) - What you see is what you sweat (1991) - A rose is still a rose (1998) - So damn happy (2003)

I had the Aretha album from '86 with the Warhol cover.
I loved that album. I had it on cassette for years but lost it recently.

Yes, you can still hear it`s her, and she`s still able to make good music, the "So damn happy album" is wonderful, especially "The only thing missin`" I`ve heard a GREAT remix of that song, "Giorgio Moroder Mix", but it`s only available on vinyl... Nick715 said: "Jump To It" is the shit!
I was actually suprised that "Jump to it" and "Get it right" is so difficult to find these days, i found mine for about $10 each, and i`m glad i did, "Get it right" is a very good album Justin1972UK said: I had the Aretha album from '86 with the Warhol cover.

Is "What You See is What You Sweat" a dance album or something...sounds kind of gross if not? Sounds like an impressive resume for someone mostly known for hits in the sixties and seventies.

I don`t know how to describe it, it was made in 1991, and that`s how it sounds, very dated, in a bad way...
