OMG...

I love this. The track White Limousine is on repeat right now, cuz I love that voice, them lyrics, that guitar.

I love this balladeer rocking out.

I have played the entire album just twice, so I cannot write an entire review, but this is a GRRRRREAT present!

It reminds me of a mix between Iron & Wine some nice mellow 70's songwriter/rock stuff...

I looooove this album!

Did you see the other disc? I wonder if anyone remixed the whole damn thing yet.

I made a Duncan Thread a little while back. I only knew him from his single. So i was surprised when I heard his albums recently back to back.

I thought the Mainstream had wronged him because he was clearly one of the best of his generation. "Phantom Moon" sealed that for me. I thought he was a one hit wonder but his chamber pop/art rock/folk influences are a treasure.
And what a great musician...He use to be on Atlantic but after "Daylight" didn't fare well in the industry and the cost of the record made Atlantic realize he was a liability. Patrick Leonard coproduced it.

Also Huey, check out the press section on his website:

Whenever I hear his name, I think of that Wayne Newton song.

I read your thread, that was actually the reason I checked the album out. But I always forgot who posted what and then the search option is defunkt, etc.

I can't get White Limousine outa my head.

If you like Sheik, maybe also check Woman King by Iron & Wine; amazing.

I lost track of DS after the Phantom Moon project, which was impressive. I heard that "high" single on the follow-up, but didn't bother to get it. How have his CDs been since PM?

Patrick Leonard gave him that state of the art studio stealth sound that people pay for. So if you aren't a PL fan then you probably won't care for it. I thought Daylight was Nice. I think the album that is least representative of Duncan is his debut. Which was Atlantic's attempt to just keep him "safe" like BB Mack or something even though that's good release.

And White Limosine is Duncan's inventive idea where if you don't like the mix of album no problem you can mix every single track to how you want it to sound in your head. Pretty impressive. I need to get the software and try this shit out. Another thing that's crazy is say you want to play on other parts and say "I wonder what this will sound like" You can port your own playing into the remix as well.

If anyone listening wants a suggestion to get 4 out of 5 I suggest these

Phantom Moon
Humming
White Limosine
Daylight

And it's so great with a artist like this because you can sweep em up for less than 40

http://search.half.ebay.c...0QQmZmusic

Now you could buy White Limosine on Itunes also because he included a bonus track for the itunes version.

He does get the Nick Drake tag but you can hear influences and he has claimed of Prog Rock/Art Rock/Classical. So that's what separates him from rock or folk artist. He mixes traditional with the modern. He messes with guitar loop collages too also

And his Claire fischer is "Simon Hale"

What's odd is Duncan is probably going to be the one who leads me to David Sylvian's work. It's funny how certain artists can finally bring you to that doorway.
