"Cars" by Gary Numan

This is one of my absolute favorite pop/rock/new wave or whatever the hell you want to call it kind of songs. I love the cold, synthesized, futuristic sound it has. It sounds like it was definately the inspiration for "Automatic" and if Prince says it wasn't, then he's a damn lie. lol

Anyway, give it up for "Cars" by Gary Numan.
Andy is a four letter word.

I remember first seeing Gary Numan perform "We Are Glass" on the Kenny Everett Show. I was stunned by this man with dyed black hair, black eyeliner, in an orange jumpsuit, and this nasal voice, and couldn't get enough of him.

He is brilliant and I think he and Depeche Mode were the forerunners of moody electronica.

And yes, I love "Cars".

I read somewhere that Prince is a huge fan of this song.It probably inspired some of the synth-heavy New Wave stuff he began exploring in the early 80s.

One of my favorite songs.I have his performance of it on SNL on tape.I believe he is a Prince fan because he did a cover of one of his songs.

Classic song, that's for sure. I'd also add "Are Friends Electric?" by his former band "The Tubeway Army".

I love Cars, but I prefer the 87 "E reg" version to the original. It has more edge.

My favourite Gary track is "Down in the park".

One of the very best songs to play at full volume in your car. Great fun, and the album it's culled from is flawless! I also love Films from the same album (almost more than I do Cars).

I know Black Sweat is the bomb but I have to give props to the songs Cars. Ironically, I was just listening to this song like an hour ago in my New Wave collection. What a great song.

I find it difficult to comprehend that I am actually reading a thread in which people are conversant with the concept of Tubeway Army.

I LOVE Numan and am crazy about Me I Disconnect From You and Are Friends Electrics and Down in the Park...and I thought I was alone in this world.

Thank you thank you!!!
