Dupri considering a duet for Janet and Mariah

Jermaine Dupri has told MTV News that he is considering a duet for Janet and Mariah Carey.

"That's been on my mind for a couple weeks now," Dupri admitted. "The hardest part is figuring out a song that fits both of them, because you have two different styles of artists, and the thing when you're dealing with divas is you don't want to overshadow either one, so if you were to do a song for them, it would have to work where both of them would feel they were on the same pedestal, or else someone's gonna have a problem."

MTV News also reports that Janet's album is now set to drop later this year, with a single due out by summer.

"We're in the studio every day trying to get her record together," said Dupri.

"If I can give you anything to look forward to on her record, it's gonna have the greatness of Jimmy and Terry, and I guess you could say the greatness of me [and Janet] combined into one record," he continued.

I don't really like the idea... maybe it's hard to finish for a reason.

The album will be dope, I'm just sayin.. I know they're gonna have a hard time picking the right song for these two wildly different singers.

That was a big letdown as well. So much potential--all wasted.

I would have been much more intrigued if the announcement had been something like "we wrote this dope track and it suddenly hit us it'd be great to hook up Mariah with Janet to do a duet on it." The way it is now sounds way to forced simply for the novelty factor, which almost always comes out as complete crap.

I always look forward to the next Janet album being great, but the last few have merely been good. I'm just not going to hold my breath this time...

So much for just being just an excutive producer....This will probably sell well but expectations will be set to high and the album will disapoint. Think "Love Angel Music Baby". I think I can already state that this is my least favorite Janet album...It's going to be watered down R&B!


One word for Jermaine...Reconsider! This album will not be the dance jam I was hoping for the but "Emancipation of Booty" (one of Janet's nicknames).
