It's my fave Tina album and the only Tina "album" I have in my collection (with the exception of last year's double disc, The Best Of Tina--Love that collection!) And to answer your question Dancerella, it's somewhat new-wavish, but there's a mix of rock and soul too. This should be the first album you get buy Tina and also check out that Best Of Tina collection, honestly I don't know where you should go after that.
Check me out and add me on:

i love the song, how it starts out slow and calm, it picks up during the chorus and then after the second verse, she belts it out.."YOU'RE MY PRIVATE DANCER, DANCER FOR MONEY, ANY MUSIC WILL DO!!!!"
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

well i've listened to the whole thing and it's great! It's not totally new wave but there are hints of it all over the place. It's more like rock, soul and new wave I guess. 1984 is the bomb and I can't stand the rain. I also love her rendition of Lets stay together. Great album indeed!

oh fuck it just spring for the entire boxset of collected recordings from 60s to 90s, then pick up "wildest dreams" (the album that came after that)...and then look for "acid queen."
I'll leave it alone babe...just be me

I picked up an 80's album of hers. Its pretty rubbush though. Dan hartman produced most of it. "be tender with me baby" (live) is great though.

Anyway, the man mark knofler wrote "private dancer", and its a good song.

My fav tina song is this though.....

had the 7" for many years now. It sounds like "whats love got to do with it" production wise (same songwriting team, who also wrote jacko's "just good friends"), but i love it though.

"we dont need another herooooo, we dont need to know the way home, all we want is what we are, the thinderdome".

Supurb middle 8 in that song awsell
