Your favourite hard rock band? Which hard rock or heavy metal band do you like most?
My favourites are Deep Purple. Very innovative and good musicians (especially Jon Lord)

Def Leppard AC/DC Van Halen Foreigner Kiss Rush Quiet Riot Ratt Whatever band that sounds like AC/DC and does "Hair Of The Dog" (the son of a bitch song) . . [Edited 1/26/06 18:36pm] Andy is a four letter word.

Van Halen--Eddie Van Halen has a sound that is unique, his rythem playing is amazing--really, he is underappreciated for this, beyond his fast, speedy playing style.
David Lee Roth had that loony edge and gruff voice that made the music a sort of juke joint wail. The songs, at their best, go beyond mere hard rock, a sound that burrows deep into your soul. The brown sound, indeed. All you others say Hell Yea!!

I think my favorites are the guys who invented it
The Who Cream The Jimi Hendrix Experience After them Deep Purple (In Rock and Fireball are pure awesomeness) Led Zeppelin Black Sabbath King Crimson (well they're prog, but still) AC/DC The Beatles and The Stones could definitely rock hard when they wanted to as well but I wouldn't call them hard rock bands. Funkadelic's made a few albums worth of great hard rock too (though not always within the same album, hehe).

All-time favorite of course.*
* Although there are many others that I absolutely love, many of which have already been mentioned here, such as.... Thin Lizzy Cream (saw them at the Royal Albert Hall in May for their reunion show ) Deep Purple ACDC The Jimi Hendrix Experience Jane's Addiction early Metallica Van Halen (w/ DLR) The Jeff Beck Group Alice In Chains The Black Crowes Funkadelic Smashing Pumpkins edit! Zepp Sabbath KISS QUEEN Alice Cooper The Scorpions Van Halen It's very cool to see a few of ya'll who mentioned Funkadelic. They are my first choice, but, and I think I can speak for The Audience on this one, we didn't list Hendrix because Hendrix was sooooo much more than hard rock. My reasons with Funkadelic was I didn't want to open up a whole can of worms about Funkadelic NOT being a rock band and all of that shit. Again, kudos to those who listed them. Exactly. Definitely wouldn't confine him to that category. For me, he created what I like to call the "Hendrixian Universe". tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

Well take out some of the latter day Funkadelic (the dance stuff) and they are absolutely a hard rock band. The can has been opened B. I shouldn've mentioned Hendrix and The Who but I agree with BlackG's comment that they were so much more than a hard rock thing. Fantasy is reality in the world today. But I'll keep hangin in there, that is the only way.
