Jam Of The Day: "Joy To Have Your Love" by Patti LaBelle A friend of mine recently made me a whole CD of Patti LaBelle and/or LaBelle songs. He labelled it "Best Of Patti LaBelle". When I saw the title, I started to toss it to the side because a lot of her stuff from the late 1980s to the present bores the hell out of me. To my surprise, damn near every one of the 16 tracks he put on there was good. He had all the "old stuff" on there like "Lady Marmalade", "I Think About You", "Isn't It A Shame", "It's Alright With Me", "Are You Lonely", etc.....in other words, the "good stuff".
Anyway, the song "Joy To Have Your Love" really caught my ear from the first listen and I've been jamming the hell out of it. Anyone else feeling this one? Andy is a four letter word.

I was beginning to think that you had deserted us. Thank you. I stopped by a time or two and looked at page one of this section and the thread titles were about as lively as a morgue. I kept right on clicking. Andy is a four letter word.

Yes! THis is an awesome song I discovered about 10 years ago, I think on the "Best of Patti Labelle" CD from her COlubmia or CBS years..... it's out of print now.
If you like that song, you will probably also love "Music is MY Life" which is similar.

My friend didn't put the CD in a case (it's a damn shame they sell the cases separately) so I went on the internet looking for the album so I could get a tracklisting. This is the one he made me..... 1. Lady Marmalade 2. What Can I Do For You? 3. Are You Lonely? 4. You Turn Me On 5. Messin' With My Mind 6. Take The Night Off 7. Get You Somebody New 8. Isn't It A Shame 9. Joy To Have Your Love 10. I Think About You 11. You Are My Friend 12. Teach Me Tonight (Me Gusta Tu Baile) 13. Quiet Time 14. It's Alright With Me 15. Don't Make Your Angel Cry 16. Come What May Andy is a four letter word.

... Yep, it's a great song. She had a whole slew of great songs before she went mainstream in the 80's.

JOY TO HAVE YOUR LOVE
is a JOY to listen to. GREAT, funky "slap" bass.. nice organ.. & of course Patti's SUBLIME voice.. new words still need to be invented to describe Patti's voice.. a JOY indeed.. I'll see you tonight..
