Why does JOSS STONE bug the SH%T out of me? I can't pinpoint it, but this girl drives me nuts. Sure she's hot, but she tries soooo hard to be soulful and I think it shows she's a FAKE. Plus at 17, how much has she really had to deal with? She is just an imitator. She would do OK on American Idol, but this girl bores me, and she also pisses me off because I'm sure there are plenty of better and more talented young singers out there, but they don't fit that blonde haired, soul singer marketing plan. ______________________________________________

she seems like a walking, talking gap ad to me. i heard part of something she was doing once, and it seemed more like she was parroting other singers than anything.

I was almost with you until you said that about 17 yr olds...family problems can be the worst problems so maybe she has been through something. I damn sure have

Her voice puts me on edge; sure, she has technical skills, but the soul in her voice is lacking. She does have cute feet, though. I'd suck the hell out of those toes...lol All you others say Hell Yea!!

i think of young artists who had soul and there was always something extra going on...i think young artists who had troubled childhoods and used it to become successful prodigies are people who had to figure a lot of stuff out on their own really early on, so they were able to adapt to, say, learning how to arrange songs or produce or learn instruments and write their own material, and based on that, they were better able to express their feelings through their art. i'm thinking primarily of prince, of course, and to a great extent aretha. even when she was first starting out - ESPECIALLY then - there was so much going on just from watching her. don't get that so much from joss stone, though i really don't know that much about her. maybe she's a genius. i dunno.

Man...when she first came out I was somewhat jealous as if I had the chance to be a soul singer backed by the roots. hahaha.

Because, somewhere in the back of your mind, you suspect they finally found a Spice Girl who could sing... And, Joss is she.

she bugs me because chaka, patti and aretha should be getting the marketing attention she gets...up until mtv came along these artist were still treated with respect, along with the new blood who were allowed time to nurture their talents.
nowadays, the old are ignored and the new are forced into the limelight and they end up looking fake...replace alicia keyes' name and you have the same situation... and lets not even get into teena marie, nikka costa or lisa stansfield who are much more deserving of our attention. Space for sale...

she is young...and it's not her fault how she is marketed...If any of us were coming up in the music biz would you say "Uh yeah. By the way. Don't market me makes me look like a phoney." You would get dropped so quick it's not funny. I say give her time to find her sound. She will get it...she has the tools just needs time. clever clever quotation - attention getting quote - sad yet witty remark - look at me! Im deep quote- song lyric about my ex cause that bitch stole my mp3 player! - line from movie I liked - Prince lyric - not very clever sig mocking other sigs

well, if she is going to accept the promotion then she should accept the backlash, no? Space for sale...

Joss is alright. Nowhere near as special as she's made out to be, but I don't think she deserves some of the criticism she's gotten either. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

I like Joss Stone
She's certainly better than other popular "artists" like Britney Spears,Ashanti and J-Lo.

At least she can actually sing. So, she is indeed starting out with real talent. Hopefully, as she matures, she'll come into her own and really "find her soul", so to speak. It's tantamount to the young flashy guitarist who plays a million notes a minute; then, as he matures, he realizes that sometimes less is indeed more. You can sometimes say it with one note instead of twenty. It's all about maturity.
Joss'll be alright. She just needs life experiences. My author page: https://www.amazon.com/au...eretttruth

Joss'll be alright. She just needs life experiences. in this era of weak female vocalists,Joss is like a breath of fresh air.As Melissa Etheridge says "Joss Stone is the anti-Britney".

I like her, she`s got a unique voice and she`s a true artist,
her music is not as commercial as most of the stuff that`s being played on the radio these days, and i think that`s part of why some people don`t like her.

Isn't she 18 1/2 by now? I never liked her voice. Sounds the same on every single track I heard. boring. She tries to make it sound soulful and funky, I hear no real emotion though. it doesn't grab me.

She seems 2 catch more flack 4 the way she looks and is marketed by her record lable than her voice. Ignore the distractions and listen 2 the music, I think U'll see her in a new light. (and no, seeing her videos does not count as listening 2 music 4 U young'uns).
I think she's brilliant. Could use a throat lozenge from time 2 time, but brilliant. Listen to me on The House of Pop Culture podcast on itunes http://itunes.apple.com/u...d438631917

I think she's brilliant. Could use a throat lozenge from time 2 time, but brilliant. i did listen to her voice...and its souless in my opinion. the voice does not warrant the media push...yet she gets it because she is blond and white...look at lizz wright..now thats a voice that deserves our attention..but she is a dark skinned nubian and thus gets ignored. I actually don't see or hear from Joss enough to be bugged by her, but when I do... yeah, she's annoying.
I'm with sosgemini on this.

Remember a few years ago at the VH-1 Divas concert, for some god awful reason, they put her on stage with Debbie Harry. If you blinked, you'd miss it, but there's one point during their performance, where Debbie looks kinda irritated and busts into a mockery of Joss Stones goofy melisma for a few seconds. It probabbly went right over Joss Stones head, LOL.
