Hey TA, did you happen to see Greg Howe there?

doh! That's one of the things I had planned on doing but got totally distracted by other things that were going on.

One good thing is that he's now moved here to L.A. and has taken up a teaching residence at Tone Merchants.
This should mean that he'll be doing some local gigs before too long. thumbs up!

Greg Howe…Now a west coast resident
Greg has recently packed up his belongings in Pennsylvania, headed westward, and is currently residing in sunny southern California. The decision to relocate resulted from various recent factors. When asked about the recent move, Greg said "There are a number of things, regarding my career, that have come up recently and have definitely helped to initiate the decision to move…plus the weather out here is way more my style".

http://www.tonemerchants.com/

John Suhr and Greg Howe join forces
Well it looks like Greg Howe and legendary guitar builder, John Suhr, will be teaming up in an effort to embark on what may potentially end up being a mutually beneficial journey down promotional lane. The merge will bring an end to the 5 year relationship Greg has had with ESP guitars. "I think ESP is a great guitar company and they've been very cool, but as I continue to try and keep growing musically, occasionally that process requires implementing some new tools. The John Suhr organization is just more suited for where I'm going musically. I can totally relate to John because he is a true artist. He won't let one guitar get out the door unless he has personally tested it, played it, and tweaked it…its really cool to watch him work, and now that I'm practically next door, I intend to go do quite a bit of just that".

The Greg Howe signature model guitar should be available by the middle of next year, as well as a signature amplifier. The guitar will most likely be based on a "standard strat" look containing 24 frets and a Floyd Rose system. When asked about whether or not the guitar would be equipped with the "silent single coils" in the neck or middle, Greg replied, "it's really kind of too early to tell…I think we'll have to experiment quite a bit, and I know for a fact that there are major issues with the silent single system coexisting with the Floyd…we'll see".

Well, Robben Ford's a Bay Area local, and he plays Yoshi's a lot, so it's a good guess.

I was only there once when my friend did a gig with Nancy Wilson.
A spectacular venue. Not a really bad seat in the house.

Very cool pics. Nice to see Carole on bass. U and I rapped about her before. Could you "FEEL" the power from Jimi's stack, even without it being plugged in?!

smile Actually it was plugged in.
But the answer is no because he never played through it. It's just a reissue of a similar rig. wink
Nice to see them do that though.

It's a great club. I was there last Friday to see Ledisi and I will be there a week from tonight to see McCoy Tyner with Bobby Hutcherson, Ravi Coltrane, Charnett Moffett & Eric Harland. I can't wait for that show. drool

Don't really know who play it.
I was stuck in my area while the show was going on.
I'm sure folks did as it was in a demo room.

In the morning before the show started I just asked one of the guys if they'd mind opening the room so that I could take a picture.
He unlocked the room and said, "Go for it." thumbs up!

Nice.

I saw Ledisi for the 1st time here in L.A. when she opened for Soulive.
Let me know if she's still using the 2 bass players.

McCoy Tyner is just off the charts.
I'm sure that'll be a great show.
Tell me about it afterwards.

Unfortunately no. neutral

There is so much going on minute to minute at that show. disbelief
For example, I usually always try and run up to the Hammond exhibit where they've had Joey DeFrancesco playing.
Not this year. confused

What does your friend Raoul play and who was Omar performing for? Pearl?

Let me know next year for sure. wink
