on a side note without starting a brand new topic... Is there a list of Luther penned commercial jingles on the web? I was reading the wikipedia..(sp?) bio and came across this

Vandross also wrote and sang commercials jingles during the late 1970s & early '80s earning upwards of $600,000 per year around the New York area. He created and/or sang jingles for such well known advertising campaigns as Kentucky Fried Chicken's "We Do Chicken Right," NBC's "Proud As A Peacock" & The US Army's "Be All You Can Be."

omg I haven't heard those jingles in 25 years but now it's so damn obvious that he wrote them because they have those "Luther" arrangements.

although Luther usually does SUPERIOR versions of the songs he covers,
Chaka's version is better.

in fact
(as I'm sure most here know)
if you listen carefully..
after the last ("group") chorus & before the "chanson papillon" refrain
you can hear Luther do a little acrobatic "vocal embellishment".
clearly his voice.

this is definitely my favorite "ballad" from Chaka
& maybe my favorite song of any time she's done..

gone are the days of instant romance
& the nights of slooooow goodbyes..

its not an actual Luther song.... its a song by Gregg Diamond and Bionic Boogie, all luther did was do lead vocals, as he did with "Change"

Chaka, hands down.

But just as a side note, didn't Luther sing backing vocals on Chaka's version? I think it's him and Whitney's mamma on there, with Cissy just being piercingly out front and soprano as usual lol....

just ask me to slit my wrists
that would be much easier LOL

if I HAAAAAD to pick one
it would be Chaka's version
which includes Luther on the BG
so that way I you got the best of both worlds

but I LOOOOOVE Luther's version (Bionic Boogie)
it's bouncy... very late 70's
I love music with this kind of vibe to it... biggrin
