Buddy Guy - "Bring 'Em In"

Oh my gosh!!! An album with a ton of covers, some really killer guitar playing and singing -- this album was being played at a local record store, and I had to scoop it up. Wonderful cameos, such as John Mayer. This thing is a great contemporary blues album. Awesome to hear Clapton's influence do his thing, and do it well...

woot!

I can't believe how good the guitar solos are on here!!! omfg F'real! Santana is on the cover of "I Put a Spell on You!" He and Buddy burn it up!!!

Goodness!

John Mayer seems to just be contributing background vox to this track.

I think he has solid chops. Is he a Guy, Clapton, Prince, Jesse, Hazel, etc.? No, he's not. His tastes run along the lines of SRV (think "Lenny") and that comes through in his playing and phrasing. "Trio" showcases his talent well, IMO.

part from his overly-breathy voice, my main gripe with him is that he pretty much ripped off the melody wholesale for one of his songs (not sure which...i heard it in a video store) from "einstein on the beach" by the counting crows. don't dig plagiarism. shrug
