Ever gone to see a band and the opening act was better

Went to see Ducan Sheik (Bareley Breathing, I'm On A High)last night at a club/lounge and opening was a guy named JIM BOGGIA. He was great. weird and quirky but he was great. I bought his cd at the show (Safe and Sound) and then went online and bought his previous release. Don't know how to describe him, but thats good. Check him out if you get a chance.

Aimee Mann is on this one and the drummer from the eels.

Duncan Sheik was pretty boring compared to Jim and the other opener, Griffin House.

Anybody else into the openers? (can you say the Time)

I also went to see Rick Springfield because Til Tuesday was opening

and Lionel Richie because Sheila E. was opening lol

Well we went to see Aerosmith a month ago or so and the opening act was much better then they were but it was Lenny Kravitz and he is the main reason we went to the show so maybe that doesn't count.

I went to see Weakerthans, and the opening act was Chad Van Gaalen.. whose album became a favorite of mine last year.

He performed other great songs that were not on the album too so I know there's more material waiting... smile

I once went to see Madonna back in the 80's, just so I could see Level 42 perform on the opening slot...

back when she was hot shit, anita baker had Gladys Knight open up for her--bitch is you crazy? anita had the "Rapture" cd out, and while it was a really good cd (classic now), you don't put a legend in her prime on in front of you. gladys mopped the floor with her. it was like having prince open for usher. NO CONTEST!

around 20 years ago I was at a gig where Chaka Kahn was opening for Al Jarreau . hey, I love Al and the concert was great, but well... after Chaka even the best will have a hard time to keep up the level

a show I sadly missed (otherwise it would be a clear case for this thread!) when Earth Wind & Fire during their prime time sometime in late 70ees opened for Santana right here in my little hometown in Austria... don't ask me how and why I could miss that gig, but... well, I missed it, okay?!! and I prefer not to talk about it anymore lol

naww..i'm just saying...just cuz somebody is "hot" at the moment, you don't put a living legend on in front of you..that's just concert suicide. when gladys pulls out midnight train to georgia, the way we were and neither one of us, you better have somethibng stronger than rapture and weet love..i'm just sayin.
i only used usher cuz 2 years ago he was so fucking "it" that somebody woulda actually thought he should prince or mj opening up for him lol

I actually enjoyed Beck more than The Verve when he opened for them at their homecoming gig in Wigan, 1997.

Never better, but just as good when I saw Tricky open up for PJ Harvey in '95. I consider it more of a double bill.
