Death Metal and Prince

Hey yall
I love listening to Prince and death metal. Is that like compatible. I don't like the negative stuff and messages in death metal, but I love the sound, theres seriously some fine drumming and tremolo guitar work in songs by Morbid Angel, Cryptopsy and Immolation. Also on my holiday some death metal musicians stayed in our hotel and they were groovy guys, we had some good talks about music, and they admitted they got a lot out of Prince, and not a skull or pentagram in sight. Is anyone else gonna fess up to liking death and black metal.

Old Norwegian Black Metal is alright. Ulver, Dark Throne, Emperor. It was very experimental and artsy stuff, but then came the string synths and the guitar solos. Blech.

Rainbow Children has death like vocals. It was also be cool if he was in the same thought mode as Chris barnes.

I like a little Cradle Of Filth and Dimmu Borgir. And Kittie's last album is borderline death metal, although lilgish always laughs at me when I say that.

I read some weird rumor some years back that he auditioned for Anthrax or some other metal band under the name "Mr. Buffalo," just to do it.

Very weird.

Wasn't there a death metal band that became infamous because one of the bandmembers killed and ate the other bandmate? I can't remember their name...

It would be nice if Prince could get some metal influence.

I just listened to the excerpts of the last album on ITunes, it is death metalish.
Never a big fan of of the death stuff. The bands I like mixed thrash in their music like

Obituary
At The Gates
Six Feet Under

a few others

Former Death Metal and Prince fan over here! wave

i think the reason im so crazy now is because after listening to something like Slayer or Venom i'd throw on Parade or Dirty Mind. Though Prince did some blasphmeous things back in the day and alot of his earlier music was dark of course nothing close to death metal. i think i was just curious about the dark side in general though Prince help arouse that curiousity. His whole Controversy and 1999 vibe is wicked! horns

biggrin U guys rock!!!!!, the first response was negative, but the rest are cool. I mean I don't dig satanism or cannibalism or shit like that, but I love the sounds, the noise the moshing and the fact u can immerse your self in the music, it grabs you and takes u over just like Prince.
And yes the guy was called Euronymous, whose partner in death metalfrom a group called Mayhem in Norway (A lot of the darker earlier death metal came from Scnadinavia), killed him photographed the corpse and ate bits off before he was caught and imprisoned, and I think some guy from a group called Burzum, murdered a homosexual and was ruled insane after he convinced that the devil had made him do it. But Death metal is less extreme now, its more speed and thrash with grunt vocals and a full on industrial sound. Theres more musical virtuosity with d.m, the stuff most people are scared is callld Black metal which is all the satnism and gory vocals.

Morgan has a nice singing voice and I like when she mixes it up. The growling and screaming is cool, but songs start to sound the same after a while.

Oh, Burzum and Mayhem are alright too. However, I'd rather go for the more girndcore-ish acts myself, if I have to listen to guitar HC. Disfear, Rotten Sound...
