Michael's Best Interview Okay..I've been thinking of this recently and it seems that Michael just can't give a good interview. Either he is acting off, or the interviewer has a hidden agenda. Lets review quickly some of Michael's past interviews and then tackle the big question at hand.
Oprah Interview - Hmmmmm I think we all know this interview, Michael gave Oprah the tour of his disneylandish pad, the usual bad childhood past stories, Oprah kind of prying, asking real rude questions (IMO) about Michael's sex life. (Funny - today on Oprah *I watched it at random today - I rarely do* Oprah was asked some prying questions by the audience and she got all pissy. Now she knows how she made Mike feel.) Prime Time Live 95 (The one with Lisa Marie) While Michael was acting normal, he got asked the ugly question that there is never a good answer for, and he defended it, ugh! "What is 30 something year old man doing sleeping with young boys in his bed?" Michael ranted about how it isn't just boys..but ugh it was weird all the same. However, to his credit, he seemed very with it and not out of it, like he did on Bash*t. ***This was probably my favorite interview of Michael's, because he gave good reasons behind some of his past, and he seemed, happy, which is rare.***** Michael is normally just shy on camera interviews. It was also "cute" (for lack of a better word) to see Lisa almost seeming like the adult and Michael acting like the bad child on live TV. Barbara Walters 97/98??? - I don't remember much about this interview..but I just remember thinking...Michael seemed really manic and almost overjoyed with happiness. I think it was around the time of Princess Diana's death. It was kind of creepy how he went from being so depressed about Princess Diana's death to being so happy about his children. The mood swings were strange back to back. TV Guide - 1999 - I don't remember this one much either but...I just remember Michael debuted his "facial hair" and that just didn't look awesome. Beyond that, he seemed happy (IMO.) *TV Guide was praising Thriller for being the best music video of all time, so this might have had something to do with him being so happy at the time.* Bash*t - The worst of the worst. This guy was just evil with his editing, and Michael was clearly either on pain-killers or in need of some serious rest, because he looked so depressed and out of it. I think Bash*t's agenda was to make Michael look crazy for ratings, and Michael "gave" him more than enough footage of crazyness. How Michael possibly thought this would turn into a good interview - I don't know? I really felt sorry for Michael after watching this. 2003 - Ed Bradley Michael's first interview after his arrest. He seemed like he was REALLY in pain, but also like he was making up the stuff about the Police beating him on the fly, his discriptions of what happened seemed like something straight out of his movie, Moonwalker. I could see Ed Bradley was kind of getting annoyed by Michael's justifying his sleeping with children in his bed. However, Ed Bradley did what he could. Then it would cut to Mark Geragoes (typo) *Michael's attorney at the time* to run damage control. Overall, I think the program tried as best it could to show Michael's side of the story, but it didn't work for me. Michael just isn't very good at explaining himself to other people. I think his heart is in the right place, but he does not know how to make other people see that through communication other than song. (That is just my personal views on the subject.) So which did you guys think was Michael's best interview? My vote goes to Prime Time 95. Did my avatar give it away?

I think the quality of the interview is mostly based on the quality of questions being asked. When ppl keep asking you "do you really have sex with your wifes? Do you really molest children? How many plastic surgeries have you had etc. etc.? How did your father beat you? YOu cannot expect a good result of the interview, because I understand why those questions piss him off and are hard to answer.
Oprah - Michael was nervous, had to answer for the first time the toughest questions, but I think he handled it well. Prime Time - they both looked great, seemed really happy. Again tough questions which I think they both handled well (considering it was Lisa´s first interview in front of the whole world). And it was very obvious that they were in love. Michael was undresing Lisa with is eyes all the time. That´s funny to watch. Barbara Walters - weird interview because of those extreme emotions that you described. Michael was very happy and sad at the same time. The best part was though taken out. I don´t know if you saw Barbara asking Michael whether Debbie was pregnant again, but Michaelś reaction was priceless, cause she was and he wasn´t able to hide his excitement about it while trying to deny it and keep it still a secret. TV Guide - Michael looked very relaxed and HOT with those facial hair. Bashit = sh*t. I don´t think he was high, cause when you look at the Take Two with the rest that was cut out, he seems OK. Bashit´s master editing made it work. I remember many MJ fans telling me how boring the Take Two was for them, while it were the same interviews. I love Take TWo - there´s something about the Miami interview that I just can´t get over. He´s just so hot. (and I KNOW you don´t agree, so you all don´t have to tell me that ) Ed Bradley - i don´t like that one at all. But there are other interviews - like the Japanesse one with Michael not being able to answer question for about 5 minutes because he just couldn´t stop laughing - that was very cute. But my favourite? this is a funny shot cause he looked the most relaxed doing this one. "When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

Best ones:
Timothy White, 1977 I think there was one with Barbara Walters in 1981 Molly Meldrum, 1977 & 1996 (1988 one is a bit rubbish) Jesse Jackson, 2005 (keephopealive radio thing, lasts about an hour)

haven´t seen that one. IS it online somewhere? "When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

Oh, it's only in print, not a TV interview. I've got it in a book called Rock Lives.

hm, pity. I gotta look for it when I am abroad. "When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

oh and what about his one? Haven´t heard about it either. I don't know if it was Walters. You only see MJ giving answers, but it was for 20/20. That was when Tatum O'Neal was going around telling everyone that they were an item and he said she was his friend but just a kid

What about the Unauthorized Interview
That was the funniest, weirdest, cutest shit I've ever seen in my life. My favorite part is when Michael is talking about his other llama and he says "unfortunately my dog attacked him and he died" I know it wasn't supposed to be funny, but I could not stop laughing...

thought he came across as quite rational and sane with Geraldo pre-trial. I don't look forward to his interviews generally though, i must admit.
looking forward to the next one though, that will be interesting whoever manages to secure it.

What the hell is "cute" about a grown man acting like a child?

What the hell is "cute" about a grown man acting like a child? Because, Michael was giving her bunny ears towards the end, and he was saying stuff like (in a singy-song voice) "I would like to sing with you. Would you like to sing with me?" And when Lisa Marie said the word "crap" (referring to tabloids etc) Michael's reaction was priceless! Plus his outfit was awesome, hence my avatar.

Oprah Winfrey 1993
That was a really good look at Neverland, and she asked some tough questions, and got him to beatbox.

true. He´s just so beautiful in it though. What the hell is "cute" about a grown man acting like a child?
Mike´s just cute like that. I love the way he can "act like a 60 old genius philosopher and ten year old child at the same time" (I think Quincy said something like that about him) That´s what makes him special. He´d be boring otherwise. "When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

Prime Time Live was a bit too timely and current event-y... you could watch Oprah's interview today and still learn a whole lot more about Michael.

that´s true as well. In terms of "what was said" Oprah is better. In terms of "how it was said" Prime time is better. I love to watch Mike´s every little "move" on Prime time. You're one of my favorite orgers Cee! And yeah, I also dig about Prime Time, was at the start of it, Michael was being interviewed by Diane, one on one, solely about music, and he beatboxed part of "Tabloid Junkie" and WOW.
