There are far too many cell phones in music videos these days for it to be just a coincidence

Have you noticed this?

What's wrong with the new Pussycat Doll's video for instance (other than of course that there are seven band members and none of which play an instrument, plus one of them looks like the Joker from Batman)? Speaking to your loved one on your cell phone and making a video out of it is still relatively reasonable, but why do all of these chicks have also really fancy camera phones and shooting each other while dancing for no apparent reason? Everything about the new videos just scream hidden advertisement.

Sure, for the target audience of MTV and other video channels - traditionally teenagers and young adults - the cell phone is a pivotal element in handling social relations. Often our love lives could said to be centered around this handy util, let's admit that no matter how pathetic that really sounds, but we are also speaking of a TV channel where the vast majority of the air-time for commercials (at least here in Europe) are purchased by mobile services. Ringtones, wallpapers, games etc. MTV even has those payable "match maker" etc. services of their own on rotation during the videos.

Coincidence? Yeah, right.

GangstaFam

I'm beginning to hate my cell phone. I've had one on and off since the early 90's and I'm ready to deep six the one I've got.

I'll let the kiddies have their fun while I use my Vonage. biggrin
